So likely spot open competition with Mackey and Stone being the front runners?

It was good to see the new guys get some production, albeit against a minor league team in the pre-season.

Agreed. Kadri and Weegar both looked really solid. Kadri especially stood out to me, always seemed to be in the right position on both ends of the ice. Had some good looks and good playmaking. Weegar had some good defensive plays (stripped the puck on the breakaway play - I think on Foegele), and had a few offensive flashes too.

I found Lindholm, Backlund and Coleman really struggled. Lindholm tried to do too much and the other two were just really sloppy. They'll sort it out - like they always do - so not worried at all, just really noticeably "off" yesterday.

Backlund just isn’t comfortable on the wing as well, so it makes sense. That on top of it being a pre-season. Backlund is notoriously a slow starter though (at least production wise)

Zero concerns from what I saw last night. Vets will turn it up as they go, no worries there. I guess my largest concern if I had to pick one would be worrying that someone would get hurt.

Like others, my biggest takeaway last night was Solovyov. Obviously a byproduct of who he was playing with but he looked very confident out there. Wasn't really on my radar before last night.

A lot of Oiler people on their board took the result poorly and were writing off players .. Given the mismatch it is strange. They take their preseasons way too seriously there . It's going to be great when they start losing the real games in front of a leaky campbell and ahl defence

Weegar, Stone, and Solovyov looked solid last night.

Mackey looks like he's ready for the NHL based on the previous night's game against the Krakens.
