You know what stops a bad guy with a gun? A good guy with a gun.

that is definitely the case it seems here based on the news story. So "volunteer security", were they there armed and ready for violence? Is this a regular thing, during each event at the church are people being "hired" as volunteers as security with loaded guns?
That would be another story altogether!

Yay! The good guy with a gun finally got one. What's that make it? Like a hundred thousand to one?

I was at Cabellas in Everett WA on the weekend. There was a long line-up of people buying hand guns.

Well they were a volunteer security team so not random good guys with guns and at least one of the two fatalities was a member of the security team.

Guy was carrying a shot gun? And got up to talk to someone at the back of the church? Was obviously not trying to get the drop on someone.
Not the usual mass shooting for certain. Shot guns are pretty useless as a weapon in a mass shooting. They’re slow to cycle and have a low capacity. I don’t see this as an argument for more guns or guns in certain places or even different gun laws. This was just a strange incident all around.

Are you kidding?
A scattergun in close quarters is absolutely devastating, and that's without bringing up semis or rotary mags.
Anyways, horrible situation and in a place where people should feel safest... glad it wasnt worse than it already is.

Except that he didn't have that type of weapon. Not much thought went into this based on reports, which likely contributed to the lack of body count. It was very fortunate all around.

I always cringe at that statement "a place where people should feel safest". What changes a person's right or hope for safety based on what building they're in?
Seems like more of a past centuries statement. A mall, a school, a church, etc . It's all the same with innocent people who should be "safest" in many different public places.

Well, one would think a church on sunday would be safer than say, Chicagos east side on friday night. Law of averages.
Sucks either way, no disagreement there.

Oh okay, I misread your intent on that statement. I thought you meant they deserved to be safer because they were Christians in a church, but I see you just meant statistically safer than a more dangerous setting.
Although, in the south it seems church's are actually a popular target these days, no?

Unless of course the church is in Chicago's east side.
