I would like to be part of this. We just opened a sports memorabilia company in Calgary late last year. All framed items, we obtain most of our autographs directly from the agents. Right now, we primarily work with charities doing silent and live auctions, but we would like to focus more on retail sales in the next year as well.

The response has been positive, so maybe next week we can start planning a first meeting. Thanks for your interest, and offers to help.

OK, well I am a broadcaster that hosts a number of information programs on AM1060.
Where I could fit in, is by providing valuable exposure to businesses that are relevant to our programming. I've already had a couple of CP members guest on a couple of the shows, including Axel.
I do shows focused on Health, Real Estate, Financial Matters (primarily geared towards the resource sector), and a relatively new show called Help Wanted which is focused on HR issues from both the emlpoyer and employee perspective. This also provides a vehicle for Employers to come on the program to talk about job opportunities they have and benefits of working for that company.

Yeah, we mostly just call for charities and 95% of the time it is to people who have given in the past.
We can do more then just that though. Right now we are doing some surveys in rural towns for a Recreational Assement firm. We can also do market research and customer cultivations (asking customers how the service of the company was, are they happy with the product, booking appointments, etc).

This sounds like a great idea. I'd actually been thinking recently about something similar, an "Investment Club". I've been addicted to investing (primarily energy stocks) over the last year, and want to learn as much as possible.

Wow, lots of Real Estate people, I may or may not fit in. I'm two days deep in my new job.
Doing commercial mortgages > 3m.
Most of the RA people who have commented probably know more then I do about my current job
Although it sounds like we'd have lots to talk about.

Ok folks; how about a meeting at the new Flames Bar when it opens? Maybe during a Flames road game - perhaps they could reserve a big table or meeting room for us?

Flames Central is a unique North American venue and a modern day hybrid version of the interactive “sports bar” that will provide sports fans with an opportunity to enjoy the history of The Calgary Flames through original memorabilia, state of the art contemporary décor and cutting edge entertainment options. Flames Central will not only play host as a modern day sports viewing coliseum, but will also play host as a special event facility, conference center and concert hall.
Construction for this project continues, and the opening is slated for March 2007.

I've got an 'in' at FlamesCentral. If/when we decide to do something there we should be able to get a table. I'll keep you all posted.

Cool - if it goes well, we could make it a regular monthly event. Everyone wins.
