FWIW...Calgary’s Sean Monahan remains on the radar screen for a trade.

Columbus still makes sense as a destination for Monahan. They’re desperately thin at centre.

Garrioch strikes me as the type of guy who lets things come to him. News is part of that. I think whatever deal with Monahan is being discussed is likely with Ottawa.

I'm positive Treliving still wants Connor Brown, and his performance alongside Mangiapane at the WC likely refueled that want.

Friedman on 31 thoughts said it sounds like it’s only Minnesota and NYR left for Eichel.

Calgary, Anaheim etc are out.

I get this and do kind of agree. But you know who absolutely blossomed under Sutter?
Huselius.

You're right i shouldn't say no chance. I just don't think it's a good fit. Having watched Laine, he was such an amazing goal scorer but it became apparent he didn't work nearly as hard as different aspects of his game. Maybe Sutter could change that, but from what I read teammates were getting fed up with him as well. There was talk about it being a disconnect between the leadership group and young guys but after watching Ehlers take that roll and run this year I'm not so sure.

After reading all the posts here about his Fortnite and lazy play it's funny to see people now want him.

I don't. Nothing has changed there.

I’m not really up on Laine and his Fortnite obsession but it was funny listening to Jon Rahm after he won the US Open. He spent the morning of the tournament watching Call of Duty tournaments.

I don’t know if this is the team to instill a work ethic in Laine though.

It was pretty dumb of the jackets to trade for Laine with torts as the coach. Similar situation here in my opinion, especially seeing how he more or less crumbled under that type of coaching style.

I think Ottawa and Columbus could be decent trade targets for Monahan.

Given that it was rumoured that Connor Brown may have been part of the Kadri deal, I could see that being something the flames are still very much interested in.

Unfortunately, with Monahan's drop off in the last few years, I would also not be surprised if the deal was more or less 1 for 1... which I think I'd also be fine with at this point.

I reject all of this about Laine.
Fortnite/ video gaming is actually pretty rife among stars, Laine's has just been extra highlighted because he was on a team whose core had different ideals:

https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/a-toxic...t-of-winnipeg/

It's similar to the dougie Museum vibe. IMO there are far worse things that Laine could be doing with his off ice time.

Further, Torts and Sutter aren't actually similar coaches. I think Laine would have a real chance of pulling through successfully here under sutter. Imagine if Sutter could mold Laine into an Iginla like player?

Depending on the cost of acquisition yeah I'd go after Laine. I too believe Sutters the kind of coach and leader that can get the most out of him.

I don't have a problem with the video games, I just have a problem with the video game being Fortnite.
Play a game in which the opponents aren't 7 year olds.

Fill fills some of the team's needs. Big time.
I would check what Sutter thinks of course.
