The evening light and my super wide angle lens assisted to capture this massive Beech Tree and it's impressive canopy.

The first lighthouse on Canada's west coast is still functional (built in 1860).

Used my super wide angle to capture it and the lower rock formations.

Built by the British in 1860, when Vancouver Island was not yet part of Canada, Fisgard's red brick house and white tower has stood faithfully at the entrance to Esquimalt harbour.
Once a beacon for the British Royal Navy's Pacific Squadron, today Fisgard still marks home base for the Royal Canadian Navy.

A pair of Herons fighting over territory, the skirmish didn't last long, but I'm glad I had my telephoto lens attached.

This little guy was enjoying the pollen on an African Daisy (osteospermum) at the Butchart Gardens. I love the wing details and the pollen collected on the legs.

I spoiled myself and rented a 70-200 f/2.8L IS II, everything else now feels subpar.

Hiked up to the Old Goat Glacier last Friday to escape Parade Day. Finally got a chance to process these.

These guys walked right up to use while we were having lunch.

This was in the evening in Canmore by the river. I was taking pictures, and noticed something scurrying around. There were about 20 of them all over the rocks:

Never seen them before. Some type of weasel?

I didn't want to derail bc-chris's thread with this, but I wanted to share a rather personal set of photos from earlier this year.

It's been five weeks since my wife's father died after being diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in March of this year. It was very fast acting, and turned 3 months of our lives into a blur of constant hospital visits, while trying to make the most of what time we had left.

During this time I found some (very minor) solace in documenting this experience from my point of view.

Rather than repost all the photos captions here, I've assembled an album on flickr.

Spoiler for content/triggers.
