it's a mess. The health minister points to the evil footballers to distract from his own shortcomings, the PFA is not able to find a solution and a number of rich owners, who could easily afford to continue to pay their non-playing staff, choose not to and instead send them on furlough. I fully get the players' arguments that, while they are willing to take pay cuts, team owners should do their part as well.

Really like how Man United are handling this so far. Not only are they continuing to pay the staff, but Woodward and Maguire have also come to an agreement where the players don't have any wage cuts, but collectively donate 30 percent of their wages to charity and NHS services. Woodward is easy to hate, but he's handled all of this perfectly so far.

Embarrassing is right. These clubs splash so much money on transfers and then decide not to step up for their staff. They'll spend more than all these salaries combined for a second string left back.

Which always makes you wonder why they ever make the initial decision. When has a team or organization not eventually be shamed into a reversal?

The Flames were shamed into the reversal as well though?

Are Spurs the only ones now? I haven't followed this.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Manchester United will be well placed to “exploit” any transfer market opportunities brought about by the coronavirus crisis. But the United manager’s provocative comments came as the chief executive of Germany’s Bundesliga warned that the transfer market could “collapse” in the short-term as the global pandemic takes it toll.

Solskjaer believes some clubs may be forced to offload players to ease financial problems in the wake of the chaos that United - England’s biggest and richest side - could take advantage of.

I've absolutely zero issues with what he said. He's simply stating that it's going to be a buyer's market when this is all said and done and that will favour United. Big deal.

I too have zero issues with what OGS said. It just confirms further what an empty moral vacuum this “sport” occupies.

thing was taken out of context after an interview with Neville apparently. Either way, I don't have a problem with the idea itself, but rather with saying these things in public. Other clubs are hearing that too and that #### never helps.

Spurs have now performed a u-turn as well.

Quote:
Tottenham Hotspur have reversed their decision to pay non-playing staff using the government's Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, and have committed to paying salaries in full for April and May.

Like Liverpool's U-turn last week, Spurs have abandoned plans to use to public purse to cover 80 percent of furloughed workers' wages after mounting pressure from the public and their own supporters. Chairman Daniel Levy and other Tottenham board members will take pay cuts after a week of dialogue between the club and the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust.

Ya know what’s missed in this asterisk season for Liverpool?

Leeds is first in the championship.

Usually I can't stand Souness. His unrelenting criticism of Pogba though? I like it. Just like Neville, Mourinho, Scholes & Keane.

This quote nails it.
