For Flames Chucko, points aren't the point (QC Times)

good article and good news; i followed his collegiate career as close as possible and thought he had some good tools but was very inconsistent. There were games for the Gophers where he was by far the best player on the ice (teams that included Kessel, Wheeler, Potulny, Goligoski, Stoa) and many others where he was invisible, but often injured as well
good to hear he's progressively putting it together

He and Germyn were shooting Tee shirts across a 5 or 6 lane road in the middle of davenport out of a cannon trying to make it into the windows of passing cars it was hillarious.

so guy written off by most heads to farm to further his development into an energy player that plays strong defense.
Now eight games in ... four goals and four assists and the team's worst plus minus.
what the heck?
is his offensive game coming around? just a blip?

IMO its his effort thats increased. i think its paying off on the scoresheet. doesn't always end up like that, but luckily it is for him. he has looked a lot better with the puck, won some battles on the wall, and played some defense. those were things that just didn't happen much last year. i think he's also seeing a lot more ice time and also more PP time than last year. though i don't know that for sure.

My favorite Chucko moment of the season so far was in a pre-season game against Iowa....a guy wanted to fight during the third period, so Chucko obliged. In the process, Chucko picked the guy up and body-slammed him to the ice.
The kid's obviously worked on his strength and endurance in the off-season, too!!

^some variation in the reports, but ...
Quote:
He will concede he reported to Calgary camp in the best condition of his career. After all, he finished second only to All-Star Jarome Inginla in Calgary’s physical testing.

It's good to see Chucko has 8 points in 8 games to start the year. It'd be nice to see him turn it around and justify taking him in the 1st round. It's still early in the year though. He has the size, speed, physicality and decent defensive awareness, so is it only heart/character/effort/killer instinct keeping him out of the NHL, hockey sense, experience or something else?
