I’m not sure what Ohtani did to deserve booing but if fans want to do it, that’s fine. He was a free agent and did free agent things. The Jays were always massive underdogs in the Ohtani sweepstakes but it felt real for a few hours.

Many fans feel him and his agent used the Blue Jays and the whole mystery flight thing to scare the Dodgers into making their final push. And based on what the Dodgers said after signing him it worked.
Him saying he knew of the mystery flight and thought it was "funny" doesn't help either.

I for one love animosity in sports. The nastier the better. It’s too corporate these days with no true vitriol passed to opposing teams, in any of the North American big sports. So I do hope we see some booing, swearing and all that fun stuff about 80s and 90s sports. Ohtani deserves some flack for how it went down. Baseball and soccer have the biggest opportunity to bring out truly boisterous fans. I imagine a lot of casual fans will be out though, and accordingly there will be equal cheers.

Well, that series sucked.
Three straight one run losses with and our #1/#2/#3 hitters in the order are all rocking sub .700 OPS's
Kirk just killing it with a sub .500 OPS
SUB .500 OPS!!!
I mean people were worried about our offense, but that was because of guys like IKF, Biggio, Varsho, KK playing prominent roles. Other than KK these guys are all performing very well so far. I don't think anybody expected Springer, Vlad, Kirk (and now Bo) to be even WORSE at the plate this season than last.
Just a total waste of a great pitching staff and solid depth players who are actually the ones leading this team right now.
Pretty pathetic.

Yeah. I think they should run the batting order backwards for a game to try and light a bit of a fire. Maybe leave Turner in 4th, which he has clearly earned.

It's surprising to me that they have had some issues with their plate approach for multiple seasons now but also still have the same hitting coach since 2018.
And Bo, Vlad, and the other bats haven't looked the same since Dante Bichette left the organization during the lockout.

This is pretty much the problem with the bats. According to fangraphs, Jays are middle of the pack when it comes to offense (10th in WAR, 13th in wRc+), so it's not like they are putrid or anything. However, the guys who are supposed to be the "top guys" are barely replacement level so far. The supporting cast is probably outperforming expectations but the "core" is not holding up it's end of the bargin.

I wouldn't Boo Ohtani... I'd boo the #### outta his agent if he's there thou. I mean I'm pretty sure Ohtani didn't instruct his agent to use the Blue Jays as a stalking horse to get LA to up their offer and I'm pretty sure he didn't leak bad info to make it look like it was real.

I agree with Sammi McKee from Kyper and Bourne - it's fun to be petty about crap like this for your team. I kinda wish I was there tonight so I could boo!

Oh cmon don't be naive, lol. Even marginal players are made aware of and often a part of negotiations like that. You think ohtani didn't know exactly what was being done by his agent and why on the biggest sports contract in history?

Either way, fans are pumped to go after Ohtani tonight. This is the first real crowd of the season, just a few dozen seats left on ticketmaster. Basically a sell out.

Being down 1-0 is probably insurmountable for this offense.
