I’m actually in Calgary for the next 4 weeks so have some free time and no time change issues. Definitely up for a blitz tournament. Maybe like a Sunday afternoon, after a Flames game, or on Boxing Day?

Rapid during a game sounds good

The challenge with Rapid in the1 hour arena format is that in an hour you might only play 3 games. If there is an odd number of players you could have to wait up to 20 minutes to play again. With Blitz everyone gets to play one another and if you're an odd man out its only 6 minutes.

Though while I was typing this a compromise crossed my mind. 5 min chess could work best for giving more time but not forcing a player to wait.

So when do you plan on making the blitz tourney? Also, can we make it with increment if it's only 5 mins? 5|5 or 5|2? I doubt it would make that much of a difference. I'm personally terrible with my time management.

I suspect as one of our “internationals” you have a strong vote on when we do it. I’m usually pretty good Saturday afternoons, but can try to make anything work over the break (so long as it’s not one of the “big” days).

8:00am Dec 25th is out? I remember years ago there was a CP Nerd contest for who would login closest to that time!

For me it'll be hit and miss, but hopefully we can make something work. It would be fun to have something wrap up in an hour or two though, and maybe we alter thread title to see if anyone else wants in?

I'm not an international. I used to live in Israel, and Ukraine, but I'm in Calgary now. I put up the Israeli flag to show my support, after Oct 7th.

Okay. I think we have some consensus. We will do a 5minute with 2 second increment. Im going to make two posts that suggest a game on the 23rd at 7pm mst ( just before the flames game) and 7pm mst on the 27th just before the flames game. we can thank which ever post works better for you
