A great run to the Final Four ends for Liam as he falls to the #6 seed in the national semi-final match. He dropped the first set in a tie-break, but then won set 2 6-1. In set 3, he just ran out of steam and his opponent played some fine tennis to take the match winning set 3 6-1. Still, a great season of tennis at the University of Kentucky for Liam Draxl.

Sebastian Korda takes out fellow American Tommy Paul 6-3 6-3 to make the final in Parma. He has a chance to be the first American to win a clay tourney on European soil in 11 years. His opponent in the final is Marco Cecchinato.

Sebastian Korda is your champion in Parma winning his first ATP title 6-2 6-4 over Cecchinato. He didn't drop a set the entire week.

Dang! Two Italians in a row making it to the finals only to lose in their home country.

Good to see Cecchinato playing better though, he went through a pretty tough stretch in 2019 and 2020 and saw his ranking drop out of the top 100.

Big win by Danielle Collins, her first match back after Endometriosis surgery where they removed a tennis ball sized cyst from her uterus

After Thiem won the US Open I thought he would be a force on tour but it's been the exact opposite. He's struggling in the first round here after making back to back finals.
Oddly enough Zverev has played really well (unfortunately) after chocking away the title.

The commentators were talking about this and mentioned Thiem has a new girlfriend which reminds me of the classic Mickey quote from Rocky:
"Women weaken legs"

This is probably the only event I basically ignore the mens side and only focus on the womens. Been the most boring tournament on tour for men for 15 years now, like normally you might be kinda interested in seeing if Thiem might blow this, but then again it doesn't matter so whatever.

Andujar and Thiem are going to a 5th set.
Edit: Thiem is broken starting set 5.

Any guesses how long Osaka will be able to hold out for with her media boycott? Slam authorities have promised rapidly escalating penalization if it continues.

Thiem may become the greatest clay court player never to win the French Open.

It's crazy because by not doing the press conference it's now a big story. I haven't watched any Osaka press conferences from the past so I'm not sure if the media is super hard on her compared to other players but if Federer can do a press conference after the 2019 Wimbledon final then you should as well.
