Default Node devs: NPM or Yarn?

I've been noticing a lot of newer stuff nowadays referencing Yarn instead of NPM. I know Yarn was created to counter some of NPM's problems back in the day, but is that still true? Does anyone know of any un-opinionated reasons to still switch to Yarn in the current day? Or I guess maybe some opinionated reasons too (it does x better!).

Everything else aside, I just wish one of them would come up with an 'audit fix' for global packages...

Never globally install anything.

You should pick or the other for a project.

Yarn can be faster because it can install packages in parallel.

I just use npm because, well, it's there and because everything from Facebook sorta sucks.
