Interesting take of the Fiend Character.

You can add Bray himself to the list since the Fiend was more of a return to what made Bray successful in his first run prior to his defeat to Cena at WM 30.

When you let the Fiend in you return to your true self.

The other easter egg that was found online (not sure if this has been validated) was that when The Fiend was fighting Cena, Rollins, Balor, and Miz (who he turned heel) he used his "hurt" gloved hand when he was pummeling them, and with Bryan (who turned face) he initially used his "heal" hand.

WWE taking some heat from the weight cable spot in the Edge vs Orton match due to the Chris Benoit dark side of the ring documentary that recently aired.

Stampede forever is a must follow for any wrestling fan. He's been posting a ton of matches from the old Stampede days.

Did Ed Whalen look like he was 75 years old for his entire life?

He looked far more ridiculous before he went all in on that toupee.

Honestly, that never crossed my mind until people started complaining about it. I personally don't have an issue with it. Pretty much anything can remind anyone of something bad, this IMO is no different than a TV show having a hijacking that could remind someone of 9-11

Watched a bit of AEW last night, one thing I noted that was really good was the amount of promos and hype for in-ring competition coming up on the program. Jake with the opening segment to set tone for the Archer match, The Cody/Spears promo package was great for getting invested in the match (even though it was nothing special for a ratings perspective), The Omega/Nakazawa/Best Friends segment was good for setting some competitive rivaly, and the "recap" package they did on every current angle and feud was great (in a sequence style).

It's the little things to ensure two things happen that they are getting. One, making sure we remember what the momentum items are on the program in a tight delivery, and two, getting viewers pumped for the weekly show they're about to see.

WWE does a terrible job of promoting feuds and rivalries for matches you don't expect to happen. I find its a waste of my TV time if I see a "random" match that has no build up.

Agreed. They stopped using promos and vignettes in effective ways, and it really hurt the product.

Too many times storylines are just "That person did something I didn't like, so now we must fight for 2 months", instead of actually strong coherent builds.

There's a documentary on Amazon called 350 days, its a really good documentary on the lives of wrestlers on the road, back when they were working 300 + days a year, it has all kinds of wrestlers including Bret Hart, Ted Dibiase, Paul Orndorff, Billy Graham etc.

It covers the drug culture, party culture, in ring life, everything.

ITs really well done.

Rousey slams wrestling fans in an interview.

"I love performing. I love the girls. I love being out there ... but, at the end of the day, I was just like, 'F--- these fans, dude.' My family loves me and they appreciate me and I want all my energy to go into them," Rousey said.

Is this a work or something? I'm presuming so, teasing a return. Or is there some story there.

Its a work as far as I'm concerned, if you watch the WWE special on Rousey from a few months back she talked about the last story line when she turned heel, and she started with the fake wrestling thing and she stated that it was what she was told to do.

The one thing that you pick up on the peel back the curtain stuff is that she had a tremendous amount of respect for the business and busted her ass to learn the ins and outs including working a ton of house show tours.

I would imagine with the woman's division falling so flat that Ronda will do one more tour of the WWE and one more feud where she comes back as an anti-wrestler.

I just picked up the Wrestlecrap book of lists by RD Reynolds, the same guy that wrote the Death of WCW book that I highly recommend.

I'll post up some thoughts once I finish.

That’s an interesting interview in that Stu, ever cagey, muses about Nelson Royal and who of the Stampede junior heavyweights he would fight, when the reality was Royal was brought in with a belt Stu Hart invented to put on Dynamite. There were two matches on successive Friday nights. The first one, the set up, that Dynamite lost. The rematch he won and the Pavillion exploded. Don’t know for certain, but I believe Nelson Royal never set foot in a Stampede ring again and the belt he left behind never left the territory.

/cool story

Yeah Old Stu invented a lot of things, At one time they were part of the larger IWA, which actually had a commissioner. For example Stu created the IWA Woman's championship and put the belt on Monster Ripper (Rhonda Singh), She had "defeated Wendy Richter for the belt (Didn't happen). And came to Stampede Wrestling. They then held a tournament and Monster Ripper was defeated and the Japanese Wrestler took it back to Japan and it bounced around All-Japan Wrestling for about 10 years before it was abandoned.

Anyways, Old JR Foley would constantly scream that he was going to get the IWA to deal with the Hart Mafia, and some non descript commissioner would show up and tell JR to stuff it.
