It really doesn’t matter so long as the player has top six potential. I will say, if the Flames pick comes up and Iginla is passed over for another player I would hate to be that player. This board is going to explode for not selecting Iginla and the player will have to live that event down for the rest of his career, if he has one. This is a no win draft from that regard.

I like players like Demidov as well; the Flames seem to be lacking that type of player who can hang onto the puck to make a skill play at speed, like Gaudreau used to.

Wheeler has him 14th in his latest rankings. Says he's an inch or two taller than what central scouting lists him at so if he's really in the area of 6'3" I wouldn't be surprised if he's picked higher than the consensus of all these draft rankings.

3) If NJ circles back on Markstrom and is willing to part with their 1st round pick: Iginla.
4) Vancouver Pick: Freij/Kiviharju if drafted a forward before, Hage/Basha if they're gone or if a D was drafted.

Modified for my version of this.

2025 has a great crop of centermen. Roger McQueen is my early pick for the flames. Lindstrom, Catton, Iginla all have high upside so take whoever is available of those 3 imo

Unless they absolutely know the teams between their pick and wherever they trade down to aren't taking him, I just don't like the risk.
Plus it feels like trading down usually seems like you pass on someone good and the extra pick in a later round is just more magic beans anyway.

1. Celebrini
2. Catton (reminds me of Giroux)
3. Lindstrom (could end up being a physically dominant 1C)
4. Helenius (already succeeding against men as a C)
5 Hage (riser with talent)
There are so many good defense available in this draft as well but I am a believer that there are just more avenues to acquire a 1D than a 1C and the Flames have no one in the system to take on that role.

Defensemen under 30:
Andersson 27
Kylington 26 (assuming he re-signs)
Miromanov 26
Pachal 24
Okhotiuk 23
Solovyov 23
Poirier 21
Kuznetsov 21
Jurmo 21
Grushnikov 20
Morin 19
Brzustewicz 19
Hurtig 18
Centers under 30:
Sharangovich 25 (winger)
Schwindt 22
Zary 22 (winger)
Kerins 21
Lipinski 19
We do not have an NHL centerman under the age of 30, nor a prospect that we expect to become an NHLer.

I would think they are hoping Honzek plays center in the NHL but otherwise I agree.

What is Celebrini's comparable?
Sakic? Yzerman?
Hischier? Hughes?
RNH?

I don't know about style comparison, but as far as tier goes, I have seen some people say he ranks somewhere between MacKinnon and Toews.

Yes, I meant to add Honzek as another possibility.
Regardless, there are NO candidates that are a) definitely a C, and b) are NHL quality

He is no where near MacKinnon, who was (rightly) considered a potential gnerational guy before he was drafted.
I think Celebrini is a clear step down from that

On the other hand, if the Flames draft Iginla and he struggles, the “fire him into the sun” crowd will be out in force.

I think Hage might be the steal of the draft. I would be thrilled if we drafted him.

It would be awesome if we can somehow get 3 picks this year. The third coming from a Marky trade at the deadline. Imagine having a pick in each of thirds of the draft this year
