My Amazon order won't even ship until at least Friday so it'll be next week before I get my PS4. I'm not even sure I'll keep it since the game selection is so weak, and I'm happy just to play GTA V (and PC games) for the foreseeable future.

Hmm..can't decide if I should pick up at Midnight or at 8 am.

I've got Killzone, Knack, NBA, FIFA and AC:IV - can't decide what to play first!

Early problems might be an understatement since the console was release was in 2005. In the earlier years you saw a 100%+ failure rate where returned consoles were repaired more than once, even by 2009 X360 had failure rates of > 50%. Failure rates for X360 were close to 20% compared to 10% on PS3 as of November 2011. Wii was the most reliable console of the previous generation at 2.7%. X360 was one of the most historically unreliable boxes in history based on accrued population and it took several hardware redesigns before they were stable in 2012. That's 6/8 years of it's life cycle with > 20% failure rates.

Yikes. Even Forbes had issues with their PS4. Looks like it's tied to the HDMI port. Considering not many PS4's have been released there's looking like a lot of bad consoles. Someone must have been asleep at the wheel in one of the factories making these things.

On the bright side this sounds like something that should be easily corrected as this isn't the same as the RROD where Microsoft had ongoing cooling issues with the 360. Still though kind of a little embarrassing for Sony. I just hope that it's not as widespread as it is with the media consoles.

The crazy hardcore guys at Neogaf have counted about a dozen in the wild so far out of the thousands of consoles out there so far. Seems we have a long way to go, but it's early!

Pre-order cancelled. And now uncancelled!

http://kotaku.com/good-news-about-ou...ps4-1464813671

Our malfunctioning PS4, the one I mentioned in our review of Sony's new console, has been fixed. It turns out that the fix was an easy one. We can now give you a clear run-through of what went wrong and what to look out for in what, at this point, seems like a fluke.

The good news here is that the problem was small and easily fixed. The slightly bad news is that we're unable to tell you why this happened. It's certainly possible that we accidentally knocked that piece of metal upward when we first plugged Sony's HDMI wire into the PS4. We can't rule out human error on our end. But we've been plugging wires into HDMI sockets for a long time, and we've never had this issue before. It's also possible there was something wrong with Sony's wire and that that's where the initial fault lies. Or perhaps the jack was indeed badly made. Sony doesn't know. We don't know.

For those going at midnight, what time are you going to get in line? What time do you think you need to get there to be one of the 100 or so? I was thinking of going at 9:30 after store close.

That's strange because BB and Futureshop are one in the same.

Heh, you guys are hardcore. Let us know what the lines are like - console launches don't come that often, and we have two in a week! Fun times!

Yeah, you'd think so.

I'm always amused that their gift cards work on each other's websites. But they freak out if you try to use them in person at the opposite store.

Using my Call of Duty order as an example of shipping we should see our consoles arrive at 1:00am tomorrow and out for delivery around 8:00-10:00am.

IGN finally able/allowed to give their First Impressions, now that they are home and set up the console in a "real" setting" - missing the Day One patch though I guess.

UI/system appear to be very fast and fluid. Remote play seems like the legit bomb.

Oh yeah, the Xbone is phat. It still has the large external brick as well. It's all internal/built into the PS4 though.

Cool that Sony packed the more powerful (or equal if that's even still in dispute ) hardware into the much smaller form factor.
