John Tavares send to San Jose

St Louis has sent John Tavares to San Jose in exchange for Center/Winger Tomas Hertl and Winger/Center Anthony Declair and Buf 2nd round pick in the draft. St Louis sends cap equalization in the deal as well.


Reasoning - Something isn't working and I'm not getting production from the bottom half of my lineup.


Hertl is 73 rated player with better defensive specs then Tavares, good scating and scoring stats, he can step in on the second line behind Miller in the top spot. He can also play all forward positions



Duclair is a 72 rated winger that can play with speed off of both wings, and has decent scoring. He gives me greater depth on the wing and allows me to push Corey Perry to the press box.


The second is a second.


I hate giving up Tavares, but something had to give.

I’m not sure John Leclair has much left in the tank at this point. If Hertl doesn’t work out you can always sign Lindros and Renberg and bring back the Legion of Doom.

I like this deal for STL from a value standpoint. Tough to trade Tavares but hope it works out for you in the sim too.

Hertl hasn't unpacked from his last two trades.

Sharks are still trying to find a way into a playoff spot. Lots of trades and lots of talks. Hertl was popular but Duclair wasn’t; not a lot of value there. So we paid up to get Mr. Tavares because of his name, not really anything else. We just feel he is still a top end player and brings some value here.
