Like the Chatwood signing.
Another multi inning guy, capable of starting and who's stuff likely plays up coming out of the pen.
Gotta think with such a short last season and every pitchers innings down substantially, there will be a much higher risk of injury. Plus Jays starters don't really go deep in games to begin with so the Jays FO is really loading up on SP depth and multi inning relievers.

So the Mets GM is in big trouble for sending unsolicited pictures to a female reporter back when he worked for the Cubs. Something like 60 unreturned textmessages too.
What is it with creeps sending pictures of their junk to women?

Oh man, I love that signing.
400 career strike outs in 282.1 innings.
41 saves in 2019. Coming off of an injury and only pitched 4.1 innings last year.
This is the Jays finding quality BP pieces from the bargain bin again, and in this case a proven high leverage arm.
Quote:
" Following a strong first season in San Diego in 2017, Yates added a splitter to his arsenal and saw his career take off; in 2018-19, Yates led all qualified relievers with a 1.67 ERA and ranked third with a 2.14 SIERA over the life of 123 2/3 innings. Along the way, he struck out a whopping 38.7 percent of the hitters he faced, while walking just 6.1 percent of opponents. Among qualified MLB relievers, only Josh Hader and Edwin Diaz topped him in terms of K-BB% during that time."

No surprise. It was the only way this was going to go down after it became public that the guy is a complete scum bag.

Yates had been absolutely filthy in SD for 3 years before last year’s injury.
Could be a huge part of the bullpen if he regains that form.

I really like how Atkins builds a bullpen and gets guys who can throw strikes and bring heat.
Still think they need a closer but if they get that Yates deal done it'll be a deep and solid unit back there again.

One guy that wonder where he fits into the equation is Merryweather. That guy has electric stuff. It will be interesting to see if they stretch him out as a starter or have him in the bullpen. Personally I think he should be in the pen , based off his injury history, but also his plus velocity plays well in the bullpen.

Atkins listed pitchers off a few months back as to whether they would be getting stretched out or used in the pen. I can't remember exactly how the list went but I'm pretty sure they were planning to stretch Merryweather out.

So since Kluber is gone, and I realy don't see Bauer picking Toronto, I'm hoping the Jays can buy low on Paxton.

Rosenthal saying that Yates is in agreement on a deal with the Jays. Great news.

Yeah, that’s a great buy low pickup. Between him and Robbie Ray that’s some nastiness that could have some serious bounce back potential this season.

Couple early rumblings on Twitter that Springer is signed, pending physical. No confirmation from anything remotely official, but a couple semi-credible people saying they have heard this.
