Default MLS is Back ... Or is it? Tournament

The MLS went with the foolproof plan of returning to play in the shiny new Orlando City stadium, leveraging Disney and ESPN facilities to establish a bubble and make it happen.

The tournament is scheduled to kick-off tomorrow.

FC Dallas has already had to fully withdraw after 10 players and a coach tested COVID positive this week.

Toronto had their charter turn around twice already, opting to ride it out on the safe side of the border a while longer, and finally travelling to Orlando yesterday.

Now Nashville, already in the MLS "bubble" has 5 positive cases and 4 inconclusive tests.

Colorado previously delayed travel into the bubble after 2 positive tests.

Columbus previously had a case in the bubble as well.

Lucas Cavallini, Tossaint Ricketts, Freddy Montero, Georges Mukumbilwa and Andy Rose of the Vancouver Whitecaps have elected to stay in Canada and opt out of the tournament.

Don't forget their Fyre Festival themed menu:

Carlos Vela has also opted out. Not a big MLS fan but he must be the best player in the league.

Smart decision to hold the tournament in the worst possible place to do so. They will jam it through because it means money, but this is a disaster.

It didn't show in the version of the photo I posted, but that's a $65 USD meal.

Is all the food coming from the gate side of an airport?!

"Alpine" Swiss Cheese hey? Guess that explains the ridiculous pricing.

Flowering up names of regular products really irritates me for some reason.

Is anyone else tuning into the chaos that is this tournament? The games are a mess but so much fun to watch (for the most part)

It's been awesome. 4-3 last night and so far today with Toronto and Montreal there is no defending.

A hat-trick for Akinola. That's 5 goals in the first two matches of the tournament.
Maybe Canada should lock him up soon? He can also play for Nigeria or the US.

These games have been pretty hilarious. Akinola looks like a completely different player compared to last time he got a look. Hopefully Herdman left him a voicemail.

All three Canadian teams advance to the round of 16. Whitecaps just pulled a third place finish out of their asses with their third string keeper starting and 9 other players missing.

TFC should be embarrassed by their display this evening. Didn’t show up and are getting worked. Bradley can’t complete a pass, he and Delgado got completely overrun in midfield

Bradley was the worst player on the pitch. Gonzalez was a statue at the back stuck in quicksand.

I thought when Osorio subbed in he was actually trying to help NYCFC. I couldn't come up with any other explanation for his play. I don't think he made one right move.

I don't think I've seen Bradley put in a worse game in TFC colours.

Holy crap. They are officially in shambles. Vanney seemed to need the players to fit his system a bit too much, rather than being adaptable. But when he had things going, hard to argue he didn't have some really good runs of form.

Altidore and Bradley's contracts are going to be a big problem going forward.

Surprised to see him leave but I think Altidore and Bradley's contracts only run to 22.

Bradley took a big pay cut on his renewal so he's not even a DP anymore after the buydown.

Altidore looks disinterested/done to me though and is one of their key problems - they might have some short term pain as their core is aging but think their program is still set up to be a strong one moving forward if they nail the new managerial hire.

For me they easily have the best academy in Canada, and one of the best in the league. Very good stadium, solid fan support that's stayed in place through lean years. Ownership group that continually invests in DPs.

Getting rid of Piatti was big, bring in a good new DP and replace Gonzalez and I think they'll be right back in there challenging for the east next year.

Shame about Akinola and the USMNT though. He is going to get capped twice and Bunburied.

The same thought ran through my head when I saw the US roster. But that's international gamesmanship for you.

On a more positive note, it was nice to see the emergence of Michael Baldisimo, Tajon Buchanan and Alistar Johnson. It's a shame that Max Crepeau was injured, but it also brought the raw talent of Thomas Hasal to the forefront.
