Default Skaters wearing #1

Should be a thing. There hasn’t been a starting goalie to win the Cup wearing #1 since Bernie Parent in 1976.

Goalies wear 19, 20, 88, 70, 25, everything but 99 (and 1).

Currently, there isn’t an established starter who uses it.

Discuss.

Slightly unrelated, but I've always felt #7 is a cool number for a scoring winger.

Six teams have retired number 1, so that puts a bit of a damper on it. A lot of goalies say it’s boring.

Only one skater ever wore it.

Exactly - goalies have given it up.

Skaters should claim it.

Exactly, it would be unnecessarily painting a target on your back.

A star would have to do it first - you couldn’t be a 6th defenseman and get away with that.

But say Eichel got here and was like “#### the Sabres, but especially #### McDavid and the Oilers, I’m #1, we’re #1, let’s go boys, get it done.”

That would work. An established star player on a new team.

I like the number 13 for a player-it's like saying "I'm bad luck for you".
