Gawdin.

Hard call ... Gawdin put up insane numbers but he was an overager. Shinkaruk is a first round pick but is listing. The new draft class were all taken fourth round and greater.

I don't know who to vote for here.
Picked Tuulola but Gawdin may surprise too.

I got Ruzicka, Gawdin, Lindstrom, and Tuulola in a bunch here with Ruzicka leading the pack. I think I have all but given up on Shinkurak.

Going with Roman on this one, I think he's going to quietly shoot up the charts, with a steady defensive game and good hands. This is a long-game prospect, but if I ever look back at my voting history on each past year in 2023 I expect to see him shoot up the charts.

I went Pettersen here. He was clearly the best of all the remaining prospects not named Shinkaruk during the development camp scrimmage.

Small sample size for sure, but I think he has the best chance of being an NHLer with the most upside.

Its the dog days of summer. I am voting for Ruzicka because his upside is higher than most player remaining. He has size and skill and can put the puck in the net. in the OHl last year he had 63gp 36g 36a 72pts.

Here is his 2017 scouting report

https://www.nhl.com/flames/news/what...ka/c-290152252

Quote:
Adam is a very skilled forward. Along with great size, he has very good hands, a very good shot. He knows the game with very good hockey sense. A shooter more than a passer. His skating is deceptive because of his size but he can open it up when he wants to. He has the ability to take his game to an elite level. He has a physical presence but not a physical player. His competitiveness, defensive commitment, and effort are often questionable. Has high end potential but a gamble by the NHL team drafting him. Could be a home run or a bust.
Th concerns about his work ethic are well documented. Here is an article where Ruzicka, his coach, and Treliving speak to his work ethic.

Sounds like Adam Ruzicka will be back in Sarnia next season.

For a guy that was only a handful of points off of Klimchuk and Foo, Shinkaruk gets very little love here. I didn't see his play at all - what is the big difference between him and the others?

Interesting to see how far Shinkaruk has fallen.

My vote moving forward is for Pettersen.

For me, it's that Klimchuk looked better than Shinkaruk at camp last year and Foo looked decent in his NHL stint. I don't think Shinkaruk did much in his 14 games in the NHL. So I see it as the unknown upside of Klimchuk and Foo at the NHL level versus Shinkaruk not being good enough for the NHL.

You are right though, production levels are similar and the likelihood they end up similar players overall is possible.

I thought he did fairly well in his first callup to Calgary in 2015-16 (then again, he got some first line time). Less so the next year (with inferior linemates).

I went back and forth on this one a lot. Gawdin,Tuulola, ruzicka , EM petterson.

Ruzickas work ethic rubs me the wrong way. Watched him a couple times this year and too often he could care less. That annoys me.

Never had a chance to watch Gawdin closely but he definitely intrigues me.

I just have this feeling in my gut Tuulola ends on this roster some year. He always competes, noticeable and well respected off the ice apparently.

Really liked what I saw from Pettersen at dev camp, Just need to see more.

Tough choice.
Tuulola , gawdin, pettersen Ruzicka

I like the Swedes, starting with Lindstrom. Some may recall that the Flames had him ranked higher than Fox at their draft year, but took Fox first only because there was a run on puck moving D men, so they didn't want to miss getting one.
Lindstrom would have been a 3rd round pick had they stuck to their list

I took Lindstrom this round but I might switch to Tuulola next. I have 'em ranked pretty darn closely.

I don't know much about any of these kids but loosely following the year Gawdin had (and his showing at camp previously), I went with him.

He was at the Penticton tournament last year as an invite. I like that he doesn't take a shift off. His feet are always moving, he's not afraid to get into scrums. When he's on the Ice he is always bringing the intensity. I like him, I thought he was definitely top five for being noticable.

Lots of talent on the board still, which is great to see.

Lindstrom for me here. I think he has NHL upside, and can become an important cog for the team. He is utilized as a defensive center on his team, but he has an offensive side to his game that I bet will come out more this season, as I expect the team to give him a bit more of an opportunity there.

There are about 8 or 9 other players that I think rank around this pick. That's pretty good.

I would have taken Rafikov this round, but I haven't hear a peep about what he is doing, and it seems by now there is no hope left of him ever coming over so that we can take a proper look at him. It was too bad - he was agile, hard-hitting, liked to agitate, seemed good on defence, had a nice shot and seemed like he good move the puck really well. Alas, the Rushan the Russian has fallen to near the bottom of my list now.
