I'd be surprised if Treliving didn't call absolutely everyone on the market.

I heard Maroon wasn't getting many calls but the oilers were interested in him so he started offering to pay other teams if he could play for them.

How does all that happen without a single phone call?

You have to wonder when the Jets and Trouba finally part ways. A public trade request typically eventually gets granted (Drouin, Hamoninc, Duchene) and they appear to be heading to arbitration. Jets have Myers, Wheeler, and Laine that need deals next summer so maybe moving Trouba for a package of futures makes sense?

In before <a certain poster> explains why Trouba is better than any of the Flames' defensemen, and how we should trade any and every asset we have to acquire him.

I think teams were just apprehensive about Maroon. He has his best years behind him and for the most part, has been a modest producer in the NHL.

He signed a fair deal with St. Louis, but if his agent really had it out there that he was looking for big money, it would be no wonder there was little interest. He has Brouwer and Beleskey written all over him IMO.

I dont know where to put this or if it's worth it but on hockeyfuzz they're saying Brady tkachuk probably won't sign with the sens. I really hope that's the case and he signs with the flames as a ufa. Wasn't there someone else saying the same thing?

Not a fan of this at all. Tkachuk got drafted by the Senators so he needs to honour that commitment. Speaks a lot to his character if he pulls this.

Would you want to go to that tire fire of a team? With everything going on there, I'm surprised more players dont want out of there.

Even before the draft it was rumoured that Tkachuk had every interest in going back to college to complete his second year. I don't think the Senators are that concerned about him finishing his degree and becoming a UFA, that's a long ways from now.

Hughes and Walstrom have already committed to going back to school, it's nothing unusual.

Read the article, it seems to me that he’s just not signing so he can return to university. I didn’t get the impression that he was outright refusing to sign with Ottawa in the future.

What commitment? He didn't agree to it, and he has every right not to sign - quite a few players have done it. Lombardi did it to Edmonton. Stoll did it to Calgary. Just like every year teams don't sign some players they drafted (usually in later rounds). What if they are offering Brady less than rookie max? Given his draft position he's entitled to it.

There is almost zero chance Tkachuk would wait 4 years and move on that is costing him millions. One more year at BU sure but no way he doesn’t sign at all

At all or this season? I’ve heard he won’t sign this season which is totally fair but I’m sure he’ll sign there. I haven’t heard or seen any indication otherwise from any credible source.

Speaking of the Sens, I read that Joe Ceci asked for $6 mil/year in his arbitration case? WTF?
