Really? When I go to book an airport pickup I get a message saying "pickup area unavailable"

Yep. 2 pickup spots on the departures level. I took one home from the airport a couple weeks ago. waited less then 2 minutes.

In Edmonton you have to book an Uber for a spot near the airport and then call the driver and ask him to meet you at departures. Slightly more work but avoids the fixed fares from YEG.

It amazes me BC doesnt have Uber yet. The taxi industry there must be extremely lucrative because they've managed to keep Uber away for a while now.

I was in Denver a few weeks ago for a few days, we didn't see a single cab anywhere, it was all Lyft and Uber.
