Default MIN signs Matt Dumba (5 years, 6M AAV)

Trouba's arbitration hearing finished earlier today so either side would have missed the chance to present the Dumba contract as evidence.

Didn't kNow he just had a 50 point season. For a dman to do that at his age is impressive. RHD with the cap at 80 million. That's a good deal for the Wild. I hope this lowers the market for other RFAs. Nylander should be in this ballpark.

That's a lot of money for one big season IMO.

It's less of a cap percentage than when the Flames signed Hamilton. Hamilton had also just put up one solid season points wise.

I also think the Dumba contract buys more UFA years than the Hamilton contract because Dumba signed a 2 year bridge deal so a great deal.

I don't watch many Wild games but doesn't Dumba play with an edge too? So he isn't just an offensive guy.

Hopefully this tempers Hanifin's expectations. Trouba, although a bit older, has put up 50 points compared to around 30, is clearly progressing from year to year, and had a similar draft position to Hanifin. This deal includes 2 UFA years, so would 6 years (4 RFA, 2 UFA) at 4.25M or 7 years at 4.75M be reasonable for Hanifin?

He had a sneaky good season but I was certainly a little shocked at the AAV. If he stays at the same level as last season it's a great deal.

I also don't think this has any impact on the Nylander deal, though I do think he'll be somewhere between 6 and 7.

Not sure about that. Trouba hasn’t sniffed 50 points, and I THINK his arb award will only be one year so I assume that means a relatively low dollar value.

Trouba seems either super greedy or that he wants out of Winnipeg, seems like every off season there is a contract issue with him.

Like Dumba a lot, think this is a great deal for the Wild.

Hamilton did it as a 21 year old - way more reason to believe he was an elite (or relatively elite) offensive player.

And yet even so, 3 years later the progression hasn't been what was expected and the Flames moved on from him. So I don't really see that as a very supportive example for this contract.
