Just a bit unlucky tonight. Top line can and will play better. Had a glorious chance to get back in it on the PS and clanked it off the post. Bennett seems to be gaining some momentum, he was unlucky not to have a multi point night.
Showed a lot of fight late to get back in the game which is great. Created enough opportunities to almost come back from down 4 goals.
On to Colorado. Need to win that to make it a 2-1 road trip.

I meant Hiller no Allen...I can’t keep track of all these B goalies.

This team cannot afford to dress Peluso anymore. Games are too tight and we need someone who can provide more of an offensive spark than a 5 minute a night enforcer. Jankowski needs to be dressed and Peluso should be sent to Stockton.
Team also can’t afford to turn the puck over as much with that dangerous Colorado team.

Agreed. And Gaudreau got his fingers hacked again with Peluso not doing anything afterwards.
If he isn't going to go do something after an incident like that, what's the point?

I'm way more excited about Bennett having a great game than I am worried about Smith having a bad game.
Smith just came off a 48 save shutout. I think we're going to be alright.

If the 2nd - 4th lines play the way they did for largely most of the last 40 minutes and the first line plays even a notch above trash, and smith plays average, then the flames make playoffs.
3rd line dominated, Monty and Johnny couldn’t do anything tonight, smith totally trash.
Can’t wait for loubardias to claim on radio tomorrow that none of the goals were his fault

I'm fine if he comes out but he was far from the reason the Flames lost tonight. Guy had a hard fore check and drew a penalty. Fourth line was fine...sure a goal would be nice but there are a few guys with zeros still.

Gaudreau wasn't at his best but he was two bars away from a two point night

Gaudreau was slashed a lot this game...suspect his wrist was pretty sore.

While I agree Jankowski needs to play a lot better. I’ve seen enough of his nonchalant spins around the ice for the rest of the season. Make things happen and play a whole lot harder. Bennett playing well when Jankowski scratched is damning to Janko. Kid has talent but needs to play with some fire in his game.

Bang on.
You know what pisses me off about Smith the most. When he does what he did on that Steen goal. He’s giving it to Hanifin like it’s his fault Smith is standing on the goal line with a shot coming from 30’ out. He’s just an ass out there, I hate when goalies act like that. And he does it a lot.

Game wasn’t as bad as the score would suggest. Smith doesn’t get caught out of net and it’s a very different game. Bennett is looking great this year, hope he keeps moving up the lineup

Worse was the non response from his teammates. Somebody should have stepped up and sent a message

Or if he made maybe a 5% effort on scrambling back to the net...
He could have made that save.

His #### diet may be catching up to him. Ham sandwiches and skittles only go so far. Didn't he say last year he doesn't eat many veggies????? Top that with his alleged "party lifestyle" yikes....
He like all of us will or have already found out you can't keep your 20 year old selfs lifestyle up. I think I started to find that out atound 25 and a half.

St Louis was desperate for a win. Allen was desperate for a win. He was absolutely awful the first two games. I'm sure somebody reminded them of Calgary's 7-4 win early last season in their arena.

Andersson needs a night off. That was Fugly.
Also the First line (Johnny and Mony). That was Fugly too.
Smith wasnt great. Kind of Fugly.
But ah well. I chalk it up to getting a little to high after the Nashville win. Good to see Backs; Ryan and Neal get in the Goal Column.
Also poor Benny, no luck. I am also a firm believer thst you make your own luck but I really hope he gets a bounce to go his way regardless.

Always sucks to lose.. but after taking into consideration that St. Louis has a strong roster and hadn't yet won a game on their season opening home-stand... That loss doesn't sting much for me personally.
I'd rather focus on the fact that Rittich looked solid, he only got 1 period of work but I'm looking forward to seeing what he does with a full game (hopefully) on Saturday.
Also Bennett played the best game I've seen him play in quite some time. If he can keep this confidence going it bodes very well for this teams chances of playoffs.
Oh yeah and Allen did that jekyll and hyde thing he's so well known for and unfortunately tonight he made the saves that he wasn't making for the first few games of the year. It happens, just glad we at least showed up in the third to make it interesting.
I'll wait to see our record after the first 10 games before i get too low on goaltending
