Vallimaki is ahead of Andersson at this point. Both will make mistakes, but Valimaki doesn't hesitate, he seems to know what he wants to do always.

Andersson had a few times where he held it too long or forced something that wasn't there.

Either way pretty crazy to think the team is likely a month or two away from having two 21 year olds and a 20 year defenseman on the roster full time.

And I think that is why I do like Bill Peters as the coach for this team right now. He doesn't hesitate to give young d-men a shot in high profile roles, and has shown he can help them develop at the NHL level.

Look at his time in Carolina and the age of the guys he promoted into big roles at a young age.

Year 1: Faulk - 22
Year 2: Hanifin - 18, Pesce - 20, Slavin - 21
Year 3: No Rookies
Year 4: Hayden Fleury - 21

Now this year we have Andersson (21), & Valimaki (20) that are likely going to be on the main roster, with Kylington (21) waiting in the wings.

Good read again. The ere lots of differences between this year and last, but what stands out so far is special teams. Last year this was an 0/4 on the PP and a sure goal 5-3, with the empty netter to make this a 2-0 Preds win, and the sky is falling.
I didn't see this as a great game from the Flames, but the difference is 2 huge points.

Yes. I am very happy with how the Flames played in general but the W is thanks to the PP. That is a huge difference maker.

Of course a shutout makes it hard to lose too.
