I'm happy with the overall effort tonight. If they play like this every night, they'll win more often than not.

If you told me at the beginning of the night it would be a Stamps blowout win and a Flames loss where they outworked their opponent, I would have taken it.

On a plus side if the Flames give that effort every game they are going to win a lot of hockey games this year.

Markstrom didn't make enough saves tonight. 4 goals against, and probably could have stopped three of them.

Zadorov was awful, just giveaway after giveaway with no offensive ability.

Andersson was bad. Not a top pairing defenseman tbh.

Kylington deserved to play more.

Mangiapane was outstanding.

Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Lindholm, and Monahan were not good enough. We need Jack Eichel.

Could be indicative of the season. Team will play hard but just lack the talent to do anything.

Like I said in the GT, losing the opener was a given, but overall I have a lot of optimism for the season.

Great play at 5v5. Just can't give McJesus all those PPs

Lots to like about tonight.

Pumped to see Coleman in the lineup.

Too much 97 and 41

Not enough 13 or 23.

Game over.

I liked the effort and toughness early tonight. The Flames displayed their new identity, especially in the first period. They stood up for each other more than we’ve seen the last two COVID-interrupted years. Unfortunately, they wilted as the game went on. The back-breaking fourth Oilers goal was reminiscent of the gutless and stupid Flames play of the last two seasons.

Positives: Mangiapaine

Negatives: Gaudreau, Monahan, Tkachuk, the entire defence, Markstrom (.871 SV%)

I really REALLY hate how well they made Mike Smith (.952 SV%) and the Oilers defence look. This Flames core and management just don’t seem to get how important it is to beat the Oilers. It’s like it’s just another game.

This team still has a lot of work to do.

Bright side: that's definitely the highest percentage of a Flames game I've watched since the dawn of last season.

The result sucked, but with the exception of about 10 minutes in the 3rd period, at least it wasn't boring.

Gaudreau was starting to get better in the 3rd.

Lindholm and Monahan sucked though. Backlund should have been benched.

Most of the team played with good pace. Mangiapane was great. Markstrom solid. Hanifin solid.

Flames are gonna win games not worried. But our top players are just on the same level as some of the elite guys in the league. So if Johnny and Tkachuk are looking for 9M+ deals the Flames should just grab assets for them and begin the tear down.
