Craig Custance @CraigCustance
Lots of interest in UMD college free agent defenseman Neal Pionk. A good 20 teams showing interest in the sophomore. Vegas in the mix.

Aston-Reese is intriguing because in 2012 he was ranked the 76th North American skater in Central Scouting's mid term rankings. However he had an extremely bad second half of the season that led to him being left off the rankings by the time the draft came around. This season he has 19 goals in 20 games and is putting up 1.7 points per game. Is he again showing some NHL traits that scouts first noticed 4 years ago? In the last 4 years he has attended Devils camp, Blackhawks camp (twice), and last summer Oilers camp. For a guy who puts up a lot of points he racks up the PIMs as well with 50 in 20 games which is good for 15th in the NCAA.
Looks like Zach Aston-Reese is leading all NCAA in goals and points and is still racking up up the PIMS.

1.79 ppg.

And HockeyDB says he shoots right

Work your magic Tre... and Conny

He won't be eligible for playoffs unless he signs before the trade deadline, which is very unlikely with college "playoffs" starting next weekend

Alex Kerfoot could pull a Jimmy Vesey. His dad owns controlling interest in the vancouver whitecaps and is from lower mainland.

Last week, Harvard counterpart Alexander Kerfoot scored as the Crimson won its first Beanpot in 23 years, 6–3 over Boston University. Kerfoot is a 2012 New Jersey draft pick with 33 points in 27 games. He can also become a free agent in August. The Devils have room for offensive talent, which makes sense for him. But if he does decide to test the market, his hometown Vancouver Canucks are expected to take a look.

Treliving in his deadline presser says Conroy and staff have been active looking at college free agency. Sounds like they have a few targets.

Elliotte Friedman‏ @FriedgeHNIC
WASH closing in on D Kristofers Bindulis from NCAA Lake Superior St. Free agent. Raw, but certainly talented. 21 years old.

They still have 2 contract spots this season, so they can sign a college guy and burn a year if they want to.

They also only have 28 contracts committed for next season, and Treliving has shown he isn't afraid to let pending RFAs that don't fit in his plans go by not tendering qualifying offers. They could conceivably sign a few players to NHL contracts that start next season. For example the two guys that the Capitals signed today have their contracts start next season and therefore they count towards next season's contract limit.

Ryan Kennedy @THNRyanKennedy
Hearing at least 15 NHL teams are interested in NCAA free agent Zach Aston-Reese of Northeastern. Power forward puts up points, works hard
