Maybe the answer was for the refs to stop taking bribes off the Sharks payroll.

I think they could simplify the offside rule, by removing the blade on the ice requirement.

As long as the blade is within the 6" yellow stripe along the bottom of the boards, and is across the plane of the line, the player is onside.

Still safe, and removes the really difficult reviews.

Maybe because video replay would have made it worse in the first two cases. In fact they used it for the offsides. I think the problem is that “hockey” is a form of entertainment, when making changes to the game they should always consider weather it adds to the fun or not.

As an example, the penalty call in the Vegas game took a boring game and added entertainment value, besides the point that even after viewing it on video it could still have gone either way.

Maybe they should should start calling majors in favour of the team that's down in every game. It would add to the entertainment right?

On a more serious note, there is no way in hell they call that a major if they take a second look at it. The league doesn't apologize for "could have gone either way" calls.

I hope that the loss of a timeout and a 2 minute minor penalty will keep the flow of games. But you're right, more unnecessary stoppages will not make the make better. I would argue that if there is a review, it should also count as a tv time out automatically, so that there isn't more stoppages.

I went to a video conference and a hockey game broke out.

It doesn't have to be like this, you can get the correct the really bad calls without taking 5 minutes to see if a skate is an eyelash off the ice every game.

Take the challenge away from the coaches and put somebody in the building to review for the officials. Rugby does it, soccer does it and it's so much better than what the NHL has.

In Rugby the ref and video judge are mic'd up and you can hear them talk about what they saw on the broadcast and it's really cool.
