Default Keys stopped working

My compaq cq60 is throwing a fit all of a sudden. Some of my keys just stopped working all together. like the number pad on the top. one through five dont work and one and four on the numerical pad on the side dont work. The down arrow key doesn't work and ALT on the left side doesn't work..

I don't know what to do or what is wrong. It just happened all of a sudden too.

I did a system restore, restart, and a virus scan and no dice.

Does anyone have any ideas?

It sounds like a controller in the keyboard failed.

It sounds more like the ribbon cable that attaches the keyboard to the motherboard is loose.

The keyboard is likely fairly easy to remove, and the ribbon cable should be held into the motherboard with a fairly simply friction-grip clamp type connector that you can carefully (very carefully!) undo, reseat the cable, and then reattach. See if that helps, I bet it does.
