Can you tell me exactly what brand, model microSD card you used? I have read that some have issues with this image. Thanks.

Ultra microSDXC UHS-I Card, Class 10, 128GB.

Was even able to price match it from Amazon at memx for $55

This is extremely tempting even though I have it all setup with most of the stuff I want on a 32gb card...

Do people sell these pi 3's fully assembled with a case, and with installed emulators, roms, and an image?

I am a combination of too busy, too lazy and too stupid to do any of this, but I love me some retro games.

Sure, I'll sell you mine for $1,000.

Then I'll go buy another one for $99 and spend 15 minutes installing the roms again.

Deal?

Has anyone tried overclocking their RP3 yet? I'm just curious if the performance is worth it and if its stable. I read that overclocking will help with some of the n64 and mame roms to be able to run much better.

I ordered a small LCD screen with case and some heatsinks. When those arrive I will attempt an overclock, a fan would be even better.

I've overclocked mine following the settings here:

https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie...or-Nintendo-64

I've got just 2 small aluminum heatsinks that came with my kit, and I've never seen the temperature warning icon so it seems to be fine. N64 games play pretty good now, there's the occasional audio hiccup but every game I've tried is totally playable

This is an interesting development. There's a new micro PC board available called the Odroid C2. Faster processor, more powerful GPU, and double the ram of the pi 3, for the same price

http://www.hardkernel.com/main/products/prdt_info.php

And then one of the retropie developers was given a board by the company and is starting work on adding official support for retropie

  • BuZz administrators 8 Dec 2016, 08:01

@roleo I have been generously offered an ODroid-C2 for free from Hardkernel so I will look into adding official support once it arrives. Thanks for your code feedback etc.

This could make N64 and even Dreamcast emulation work without issue

Nice.
The part I hate about copyright rules would stop lesser (perhaps greater?) men than me.
I have about 60 old game cartridges boxed and stored. When I set up my pi I didn't install any that I don't have in the box... not really because of copyright, but because the ones I played back when are the same ones I want to get retro with now. And I was perfectly comfortable doing this because I own them.
But it doesn't work that way - as I now understand it, I am in violation because I didn't copy my own cartridges? As this makes zero logical sense to me, I no have no issue downloading and playing games I didn't own/don't have in the box of treasures.

I'll have a 8 bit and 16 bit allcade for sale when my order is shipped if you are interested. I bought the collectors bundle and don't need 3 systems.
