Default Bell / Telus LTE Network Down?

Yesterday around 10:00 my phone had issues finding the network, and then flipped over to 3G. My wife's Bell phone was also showing 3G last night.

I did verify that I have LTE enabled in my settings.

Anybody else? Or Telus users- seeing as they share towers?

Am I the only one on CP who uses Bell or Telus?

I'm on bell and can confirm the LTE network is working.

Are your issues persisting? I wasn't off wifi when you originally posted it so I can't say but otherwise has been fine. (Bell)

Yeah- I made a call into them. Apparently they are taking LTE away from people with grandfathered 6GB data plans. I have to call back tomorrow to escalate it.

Spent about an hour on the phone with them today. They seem to think my SIM is the issue; however my wife has the exact same plan and also reverted to 3G at the same time. They have given me a $20 credit to cover replacing the SIM and my time- I'll see how that goes.

The guy on the phone insisted that my 6 GB data plan did not include LTE; however the girl I spoke to today listened and understood that I have been using LTE for 3.5 years, and 1.5 years on my current phone. She was very helpful, but at the end did offer that seeing as I don't go up to 6 GB of use very much, they might be able to offer me a different plan.

Don't worry, I'm not giving in that easily. Part of the beauty of having that much data is I don't have to worry about streaming a Flames game; if it uses 2 GB I still have plently left over. I also like being the "cool uncle"- there's always Youtube available on ski trips when I come along.

Update. I called in yesterday and I almost hung up on the guy. He was asking such silly questions at first; like when I said that I've had LTE for 3.5 years and 1.5 years on the existing phone, he asked me 3 times if I was sure.

In the end he had to "rebuild" my profile on their end. He actually had to call me back.

Now of course there's my wife's phone. They said they did what the guy yesterday on my account, however because we didn't go through the "sim swap" step, they can can't go any further.

Is it even legal to change your plan to 3G without notifying you? That's seems super slimy...(not surprising)

Don't know about that since generally plans in the last 3+ years have all been as a whole are made LTE capable. It's typically a matter of whether the SIM or hardware is compatible. Generally I've heard and seen carriers raising the prices of those grandfather plans, which they reserve the right to do if they give you notice AFAIK.

I'm on a Telus 6GB BYOD plan - will definitely be keeping an eye on this. Was it intermittent flipping over to 3G, or stuck there? I see 3G every so often but thought it was just being in a weird part of Banff or something...

Regarding the legality- in the fine print on the TOS they have to give 30 days notice to change my plan. I'm no longer under contract.

Regarding how it showed- it would stick on 3G all the time. At home I get 1-2 bars LTE and 4-5 bars 3G, so if I disabled LTE and then re-enabled, it would register as 1-2 bars, not show what type of signal, then go up to 4 bars and show 3G.

Even downtown where LTE is strong, I could only get 3G.
