“When I first started playing with Mark Knowles [in 1995] that was my best season and when I felt I was a top player,” Nestor told ATPWorldTour.com. “It was kind of sporadic. I'd had big wins with Sebastian Lareau, some good tournaments but confidence wise it took longer in singles than in doubles. When I played against the best players I felt confident immediately.”

http://www.atpworldtour.com/en/news/...h-wins-tribute

His greatest success has come with four partners: Knowles (464 wins, 40 titles, including three majors); Nenad Zimonjic (227 wins, 27 titles, including three majors); Max Mirnyi (90 wins, eight titles, including two majors) and his compatriot Lareau (60 wins, five titles, including the 2000 Sydney Olympics gold medal). He has lifted 88 doubles titles overall – third in the all-time list.

“It’s an incredible achievement,” Knowles told ATPWorldTour.com. “He has had a remarkably long career and has been able to achieve tremendous success throughout. I was fortunate to be on the same side of the net with Daniel for so many of those victories. He continues to adapt to a changing environment and finds motivation where others might not. One thousand wins is nothing short of spectacular. Congratulations!"

Daniel Nestor is pretty much why I'm a tennis fan. Ironically, because of a singles win. He beat world #1 Gustavo Kuerten at the Corral in 2003. Back when TennisCanada didn't think it was too big for Calgary and Davis Cup ties.

Small tournaments. In the first tournament she beat two players ranked 100 and lost to a player ranked 70

In this tournament so far she beat 64 and 44. Plays 35 next.
All the top players are playing Sydney

Thanks, I see. Last year she would have lost those matches?

Both have been knocked out. So that's that!

Genie beat Giorgi easily 63 62. That's a quality win.

Gets Cibulkova in the semifinals

I'm not sure if this picture says "Small-time tournament" or "Genie wants to play badly", but funny nonetheless. Getting the courts prepped for the match.

Sock beat Anderson in straight sets to reach the semis in Hobart, quite a run. Quietly he's in the top 25.

Also confirmed that Pop-Sock will team up in the Australian Open.

That should be another quality test for Genie. Cibulkova is usually tenacious (i.e. runs down everything) and waits for her opponent to make a mistake.
