I'm also a big fan of Kaling, Faris, Poehler and Plaza.

Take out Wig and McCarthy and give me Amy Adams and Isla Fischer.

June Diane Raphael (Zeddmore), TJ Miller (Stantz), Richard Ayoade (Egon) and Kristen Wiig (Venkman) as the Ghostbusters.
Kaya Scoledaro and Jerrod Carmichael as the inevitable romantic interests.
Michelle Williams, Terrance Howard and Viggo Mortensen as problematic humans.

I don't know. The all-female cast seems like a bit of a gimmick. In 1984 women weren't allowed to drive a car, or show their ankles, but it's different times now. I'd also cast outside of the 'who is hot at the moment' category. Oh, yes and Moranis and Potts. Any other original cast can appear in Paranormal Activity style footage.

I don't know why Hollywood hasn't snapped me up as a casting director yet.

This movie has the potential to be a lot of fun.
are we talking about the same woman here? I have never seen her be anything but loud, obnoxious, and un-funny.

not directed at you troutman, but who is saying Bridesmaids is one of the best comedies of all time? I had to leave the room 3/4 of the way thru (and I had to force myself to watch that far), its in my top 10 worst movies ever. McCarthy is like a Will Farrell and Zach Galifianakis love child with all the crappiest qualities passed on to her (think Danny DeVito in Twins). I cannot get over how everyone thinks she is funny, I think less of any co-worker or friend who recommend Bridesmaids to me. I just can't express my level of dislike for her and it drives me crazy. /endcrazyrant

Wouldn't want a reboot
Wouldn't want four women cast

And going through that list, definitely not Lena Dunham, she's the worst. Next to Cameron Diaz, who is worser..

A great female Egon type would be Tina Fey.

Jane Lynch is a bit too acerbic for Egon and I don't think I have seen her play a comedic role where she wasn't like that. Not that it matters if it's truly a reboot, and not trying to run parallel with the original cast and story. Anyway, if the case is for some similarities, I might opt for Geena Davis. She has good comedic talent and could play the part and portray a tall, nerdy, scientist type.

Somewhere up in heaven, Harold Ramis and Jesus are doing lines of coke asking 'what the #### is going on down there?'

You see, that's funny because Ramis was Jewish.

So basically the only real reason this is being made is because Ramis is dead, Murray won't play a part, Moranis is retired, and Akroyd is just bat#### crazy.

Well I hate to say it but once again Winston is the one getting the shaft. What exactly does God have against Ernie Hudson's career?

If your going to cast an identical token black character they should have at least cast Wanda Sykes

Default All Female cast of Ghostbusters announced

Can't say I am a fan on first blush, but better than having a "young/hot" team to get the younger demographic.
I think the casting could be slightly adjusted. Maybe having a serious actor to play the straight (wo)man. Four sketch comedians could turn in into a SNL movie.

Those are some pretty lofty names you're throwing out there. Really think she's on that level?

*Sigh* This is gonna cost me a man card... but check out Gilmore Girls.

Her performance was regularly the opposite of the brazen/loud act she's found hollywood success with. Her comedic bits were much more reserved, but still funny as hell, just with the volume and intensity turned down.

Now if you'll excuse me I've must go shopping for a new purse.

That would be a great cast. I can't get the image of TJ Miller blasting a ghost yelling 'GHOSTBUSTING, YEAH!'.

Those are some male names I'm throwing out there. I think my point is female celebrities are judged more harshly than male figures. McCarthy often comes from the same place as Farley and Belushi - the loud, oafish buffoon.

Just mention Wiig and McCarthy, and people lose their ####. I suppose you see that kind of reaction to Will Ferrell too, but women seem to be under the microscope far more. Musicians, comediennes, actresses, sportscasters.

Some people (including Belushi) actually hold the view that women can't be funny at all.

http://www.vanityfair.com/culture/fe...hitchens200701

it could be that in some way men do not want women to be funny. They want them as an audience, not as rivals. And there is a huge, brimming reservoir of male unease, which it would be too easy for women to exploit.

They should just take the cast of Silicon Valley.

More important than the cast - this movie needs good writers. A good script is crucial.
