I would have cut the gingers and kept the B team.

I actually thought they were the best part of the show.

I liked the show better without the B team. But tough to say what, if anything, the B team in itself had to do with it.
Mostly I guess five people was just too much for that kind of a show.

I'm writing a show with the mythbusters format in mind. I've found that it's much easier having 2 groups to break up the viewing than just filling the show with one. Especially with the limited attention spans of people today. I expect Discovery is just saving money and will bring in a new segment to break up the main story arch.

I liked the format when Adam and Jamie had competing design and experiment philosophies and brought their own contraptions/methods to the problem, letting the viewer gauge who was more effective and proving or disproving the myth.
Now they seem to be very collaborative and that break is actually an intellectual break from one myth to another.
It's not as entertaining.

It could very well be what they are planning to do: have competing theories between the two of them and swap back and forth. This could be a good thing for the show.

Yeah, the best bits were when Adam and Jamie butt heads with each other regarding myths and methods.

They were quite popular. I wouldn't be surprised to see them with their own show.

Watched some old episodes, like the duct tape/bubble wrap desert survival one and remembered how good it was. I think that Mythbusters will be ok without the Build Team (though I don't like seeing them go)

At least PBS is still putting out good quality TV.. If PBS started going the way of Discovery or History channels, then I would be seriously concerned for humanity...
Antiques Roadshow is about as bad as it gets...

Didn't Discovery say they wouldn't put out as much fake stuff and reality TV with their new CEO?

Mythbusters is done next year.

Discovery Channel announced this week that "MythBusters" will go off the air in 2016, and I'm already feeling empty inside. After watching the show test 2,950 experiments, bust 1,050 myths and create 900 entertaining explosions, I was beginning to believe there was nothing a scientific examination couldn't make more interesting.

The Mythbusters Build Team is Heading to Netflix
New show coming to Netflix!

The announcement came during a panel at DragonCon on Saturday. The new series, which stars Grant Imahara, Tory Belleci, and Kari Byron, will be called The White Rabbit Project. According to Nerdist, it was described at the panel as “Mythbusters in Wonderland,” where they go down the rabbit hole of the internet to find topics and experiments.
The panel included a teaser clip of Byron and Belleci enjoying some wine while trying out an experiment. One person said Byron was controlling a wired-up Belecci remotely, while another said they were both hooked up to wires and Byron was trying to induce electronic muscle stimulation. Either way, sounds pretty cool.
