I use Google Music. Need to trick Google into thinking you are an American for 5 seconds while you sign up. Love the layout and the recommended playlists and such. Been super useful.

Yeah I totally forgot about 8tracks. I've played around with it a bit and I really should give it another shot.

Slacker app. It's on either android or iphone, not sure about any other mobile platforms. Also available through the web, slacker.com .

I really, really like http://www.rdio.com/
Happy to throw them some money every month to be able to stream (or download to your mobile device) about 90% of the music you can think of (without ads).
Quality seems good enough to my non-audiophile ears. Biggest complaint, and it is a big one, is that there is occasionally a half/quarter second silence between tracks on an album. Since I mostly listen to albums straight, that can be really bothersome when the tracks blend together.

So with Rdio getting bought out by Pandora, I've decided to investigate other alternatives. What's everyone's go to music steaming service these days? Is the Apple product worth switching for? Do I go with Pandora? Spotify?

I don't really do streaming. All my music is in the cloud through iTunes.
I can listen to radio stations all over the world for free on TuneIn. TuneIn learns what you like and will suggest stations you will enjoy.

Had an idea!

Spotify is hands down the best.
Worth paying $10/month simply to use their Discovery Weekly feature.

I use Spotify and quite like it. Might sign up for Apple music add it had an introductory free 3 months. But Spotify does what I need.

TuneIn and Spotify. Both free and provide me everything I could certainly want to listen to.

Apple Music gets a bad wrap, but it's becoming really solid. I find the music discovery is now deeper than Spotify (many of Spotify's playlists include the same tracks)
The integration with Beats1 makes it great to add new songs to your playlists, and it keeps iTunes collections available.
Par the course with Apple lately, they release things while still in development.

The discovery weekly playlist in Spotify and the Siri integration with Apple Music are almost the entire reason I subscribe to both. For those who are unaware, the Discovery Weekly playlist is a playlist that Spotify generates for you every monday based off your listening habits. I realize that's nothing new, but what's odd is that it's 2 hours long and 95% of it I've never heard before.
Because Apple Music is actually my main driver, I tend to move my discovery playlist over to it each week (also helpful as once the week ends, the playlist is gone). That means I currently have a playlist over 16 hours long, comprised mainly of songs I've never heard before.

Pandora and Slacker. Pandora mostly because we have several channels we like to listen to and simply hit shuffle. No other service allows you to shuffle their created stations.

I use Google Music for streaming stuff that I own and Spotify if I want to listen to something new on my PC.
As I tend to listen to Podcasts while I am on the go, I don't have paid memberships to either and find it more than suitable.
