I have to say, for a Canadian Production, I'm VERY impressed with this show. Even the 1st episode had me on the edge of my seat. Very well done and looking forward to seeing more.
Think the upcoming episode is only the 3rd so you haven't missed much if you didn't see the first two.
I know what you mean by typical CBC acting, HC, but this one is pretty good. I'm always hesitant about Canadian shows too but this one may be worth watching.
I had high hopes for this show and am still enjoying it but it just seems far-fetched in some respects. I love this stuff and am willing to suspend realism a little.
I've been watching it with my wife, she really likes it. I have to say it is pretty solid, doesn't always blow me away but I have enjoyed each episode and the evolution of the characters.
Have to say it has taken quite an unexpected dark turn, and the season finale was no exception to that rule.
Spoiler!
The German Oberleutnant smothering his own disabled son to death before they come for him? Jesus.
I'm really curious where they go with him, it's gonna get pretty complex I'm guessing.
Second season of this series is now airing on CBC. I haven't watched it yet but I really liked Season 1. I thought it was very strong and it didn't mince anything - hopefully season 2 picks up the same tone
This season has been pretty good so far. It certainly has that distinct "CBC" feel to it but I think it's one of the best Canadian productions in recent memory.
Good character development, tense at times. I quite like it. It's certainly held my attention since day 1.
Last night in particular was a good one.

Solid episode last night. Surprisingly edgy for CBC. I thought the commander of CampX was a little cheesy at first but solid performance recently I think.
I don't like the whole "for a Canadian show" qualifier that everyone has because CBC has been airing and importing a lot of quality programming over the past number of years.
X Company has literally become one of my favourite shows of all time. Characters, story, etc = all top notch.

Such as? I'm genuinely curious if I'm missing some others I should be watching.
You have to admit though, numerous shows produced by CBC over the years have been very groan worthy.

Off the top of my head over the past number of years the quality shows that CBC has shown include:
Being Erica, Murdoch Mysteries, Book of Negroes, Ascension, Banished, Romeo Section.
Heartland is a perennial favourite among viewers even if it's not my thing, and it's been on for 10 years.
I admit that there have been some groan worthy shows, but that's often personal preference and really no different than any of the other networks.
The show has been picked up for a 3rd season, set to air December 2017.
Spoiler!
Killing off Tom, good/bad move? I guess on one hand you always heard about how short the life expectancy was for an agent in the field, so killing off a member of the team makes sense.
Who fills the gap? My hunch is that Krystina wants to go into the field, we've seen that she has nerves of steel and can handle a gun.
What's the fate of Neil's girl? Last seen in the church bell tower with a Nazi gun pressed to her back.
Oh and the big one, where do they go with Faber appearing to agree to help them? What bigger baddie gets brought in to counter that? Or is Faber in some crazy way playing the team? Will his wife Sabine play a role? If so could that somehow allow Aurora to repair her relationship with her and they could become a powerful team?

Pure gold as was the entire season. My heart was in my throat for much of the past two eps.
Spoiler!
Guessing the unit remains with just 4 members now and Sinclair takes a more active role overseas.
Doing some reading and your idea regarding Tom was pretty much what the writers and producers were thinking as well. It was totally unexpected judging how he pretty much just got back from injury but really well done.
I assumed Miri was killed but am now second guessing that.
As I understand it, Faber hasn't exactly turned yet but a new nemesis is on it's way. Do I think he will turn.......I'm leaning towards another change of heart at the end of the next season. Writing for season 3 is supposed to start this week.

I'm a Paul Gross fan.
But I don't get your point. He's been a regular on what...1 CBC show?
