Default Help with laptop....

My wife is having issues with her laptop.

When she opens webpages some of the words are highlighted and appear to be links to "ads". Also, she has issues sometimes, with jumping to pages, that also appear to be ads.

Finally, she can not attach things to her Shaw email account.

I am looking for advice:
  1. Are these issues interrelated?
  2. Are they repairable myself (I am a Luddite)
  3. Should I take the computer in to get these issues addressed.
Thanks.

Most likely virus related.

Easiest way to deal with it is download a tool like Malware Bytes and run it.

If it doesn't fix the problem, there are more complicated things you could do, but I would just backup your data, make sure you have the discs/product keys to install your software again and then format and reinstall windows. Your laptop almost certainly has a recovery partition, but if it doesn't, I am sure someone could hook you up with the correct discs.

1. http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/fx/
2. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/fir.../adblock-plus/ best add on ever
3. http://www.iobit.com/advancedsystemcareper.html run a full scan

If the problem persists:

4. http://www.malwarebytes.org/

should take care of it

Also, check what browser plugins may have been erroneously installed.

Oh yeah I use Firefox and it didn't happen on IE.
