Thumbs down 2015 Young stars tournament penticton

I know, I know, way to early...

But...

This is quickly becoming my favorite trip of the year. I'll be going again this year. Just wondering if anyone has a clue on dates this year? Also what hotel do the Flames stay in?

I'm also interested in knowing those details as I'm looking at going with some buddies for my stag weekend trip.

Yes, WAY too early. Last year they didn't release that schedule until late June. So you probably have another 3.5 month wait for it.

Typically, it is held the 2nd weekend in September, so I would venture a guess the tourney will be September 11-14.

This will be the third straight year I'm going with my cousins. Love love love the tournament and spending an awesome summer weekend in Penticton. Friendly town with lots of nice weather. Plus, I really enjoy the atmosphere at the rink. The sight lines are awesome, and the people are really good to chat with. Lots of good natured ribbing.

Went to the last two and it is a lot of fun. They don't announce the until the summer as Drury mentioned. The flames stay at the Ramada which is a five minute walk to the area.

My birthday is September 13th and my buddy who's a Canucks fan shares the same birthday so we make a trip of it. Can't wait to go again, though I'm not sure who will be there outside of Bennett and the 2015 picks

My fairly educated guess would be that anyone who hasn't had significant time with the Flames this season (i.e. Gaudreau, Jooris and Granlund) and still on an ELC will attend.

I would think the likes of Poirier, Culkin, Kulak, Kanzig, Arnold, Gillies (if he chooses to make the jump over), Ramage, Sieloff, Carroll and Klimchuk are almost locks. If Mattsson and Rafikov are over for camp (again, if that's the choice made), they would be there.

Good possibility to attend would be guys like Elson, Hathaway, Agostino, Van Brabant, who maybe are RFA's this year and coming off their ELC, but still have spent most of the time in the minors/college and not significant time in the NHL. I think Wotherspoon might be in this category too if he finished the season in the AHL and his camp is iffy. Or the Flames just want to get him some extra game action.

I doubt we would see the likes of Ortio, Reinhart, Hanowski, Granlund, Jooris, Wolf, Ferland and Gaudreau at that tourney. (I believe Gaudreau and Jooris are ineligible at this point due to play, I think Wolf might be too old).

That's just my somewhat educated guess though.

Does anyone know what the participation rules are? I tried looking them up, but couldn't find them anywhere. I know there's a 25 NHL games played limit because that was why Baertschi was mad about participating in it in 2013, he was at exactly 25 games.

A 25 game limit would put Gaudreau, Jooris, and Granlund on the ineligible list. Depending on how many more games he plays, Ferland could also be out (he's currently at 14 games and the Flames have 18 games remaining).

Reinhart's at 23 games, so he could get another call-up and three games to make him ineligible (he also might be ineligible because he'll be off his ELC next season).

I think there is also an age limit because Wolf was either to old or his Euro games counted in some manner.

Bennett should also be there again.

Yeah when I saw the thread pop up, I was worried it was bad news that the tournament was being cancelled or something.

Every time I look at the standings I think how great this tournament will be this September! Flames,Oilers,Canucks and Jets could all be in the top 5 this year!!! Will be some awesome 1st and 2nd round talent on display.

Will Jankowski qualify now?
