I feel pretty good about our chances tomorrow. If Gausman doesn’t get into a hole early in the game, I think we’ll see the good Jays. The Jays will also be happy to be past Castillo.

Winter is coming. The WS will be played in November.

I don't feel confident about the game. As a Toronto sports fan I expect the worse. I always say the Kawahi basket against the 76ers was supposed to rim-out in truly heartbreaking fashion but there was a glitch in the matrix and it went in. Hope they win, expecting the worst.

If the Kawhi basket had rimmed out it wouldn't have been heartbreaking, it would have just meant overtime, and no one would have even been surprised because it was utterly ridiculous that that shot fell in anyway. Maybe "mild disappointment" would have been the reaction.

They lose in OT for sure.

Last year the Jays would be out by now in the old format.

Deep breaths here.

Baseball is a lot of circumstance within game and overall momentum within game and between games is about as minimal effect of all the major sports. Manoah doesn't hit the batter in the first and it's a toally different game, maybe it's only 1-0 into the 4th and the Ms pitching strategy with Castillo is different and he's out sooner and the Jays jump on the next guy that comes in earlier. Etc etc.

Jays were great over last 30 games. Sure they need to win today but there are so many instances and circumstances that can tip a game one way or another, that the Jays have been on the right side of in the last month. Therefore, odds are in the favour they will be just fine and can cruise to to two wins. Or not deserve to win 2 games but do anyway. Or nailbite wins. Who knows.

Just enjoy it.

I assumed Stripling would go today, is there a reason for Gausman instead?

Gausman is better and they need a win or they'll never get to use him.

Probably because they lost. Had they won they would have saved him for tomorrow if necessary and if not game 1 against Houston.

Gausman when he's on has the ability to win a game more or less on his own, like Castillo just did. Stripling is more of a guy you rely on to give you a solid performance and a good chance to win if the rest of the team holds up their end.

Was listening to the fan590 pregame show all morning yesterday and they had Eno Sarris on to discuss the pitching matchups for the series (big analytics guy). He talked alot about Gausman's underlying stats being quite a bit better than his actual stats and spoke about how he's been the victim of some poor fielding/batted ball luck much of the season. Hopefully he can shove today and get us through to tomorrow. This lineup can hit Ray.

They also burned through a bunch of their bullpen yesterday. Gausman can get you an extra inning or two.

Yeah I don’t have the stats handy but Gausman’s BABIP has been historically unlucky this year.

I believe he’s in the top 10 all time of most unlucky seasons, or something close to that.

I don't know about pining for a longer series. The 162 game season in baseball is supposed to be very meaningful. IMO the bigger issue is that top teams can get bounced in a 5 game series before making to an LCS.

It’s wild that today could be the last game of the season for the Jays. Time to go out there and get the job done.
