I feel like this is the third time they've switched up that radar unit. I believe this is the one that gives coverage on the ground. The primary radar is the "golf ball" northeast of the field.

I feel like it's been replaced more than that than that. I know they replaced the Ground radar in 2018 after it was damaged by strong winds (or I believe it was what the manager said the cause of the replacement)

WestJet summer ehncements with some significant changes for Alberta.

YEG gains 62 flight/week which appears to be the biggest increase of all cities, in this announcement.

YYC gets some nice frequency increases including JFK going back to daily. Several other domestic frequency bumps to double or even triple daily to central/eastern Canada.

Dang it, let's get the HSR built to YEG and gut that airport. Battle of Alberta baby.

Have a morning departure coming up out of the international terminal, it's been several years (pre-Covid) since I've been through there at that time of day so have a couple of questions:

1. is there a decent breakfast place post security (ie not fast food)?
2. has anyone done the reserved time for security screening and is it worth it?

I did the reserved screening and it was not worth it. I was flying domestically and they wanted me to go through the international screening. When I got there, there was almost no line at domestic screening, so I just went through there and cancelled my appointment.

Doesn't hurt to have as a back-up I suppose, but when I travel later this month, I won't bother.

Looks like WestJet has moved to make the Paris flight year round now.

Excellent! Would be nice if they could shift a few of the other Europe destinations to year round too. Especially the ones in continental Europe.

Daily year round or dropping some frequency in the winter?

Air Canada coming in with a bunch of cuts for the next winter season out of YYC:

Maui, Vegas and Phoenix all gone.

Honolulu stays on 2x weekly.

Ceding transborder leisure to WestJet and the LCC's. On the positive side it's an upguage in aircraft to EWR I guess.

That's too bad. Maui especially I think that will lead to premium pricing on the WS direct, as none of the LCCs are likely to launch that.

I'm surprised they dropped OGG instead of HNL.

Crazy, isn't Calgary to Vegas a very popular flight?

Yup, but I think on that route you have a lot of WestJet flight, plus Flair, and now Lynx too.

Yup. Did a quick Flightaware check yesterday and WestJet was flying 4x daily and Lynx had one too. Doesn't make much sense for AC to stay on the route especially since they are scaling back at YYC somewhat, fewer connections to feed the flight.

I think we are pretty close to 50% of the LED lights in the new terminal being burnt out.

I can already envision the ruthless efficiency in which they will tender a bid to replace them. Not a penny will be wasted.
