i wanna see degrom hit the open market just to see if someone pays him $50 million per. He has more rbi's for himself than runs allowed and he's on pace for 400 strikeouts. I mean what do you even do to deal with this kind of stuff?
It'll be interesting to watch going forward, but Gerrit Cole looks more like Pittsburgh Pirates Gerrit Cole than Houston Astros / NYY Gerrit Cole since they cracked down on the sticky stuff.

That will be interesting. At least he got himself paid.

More than that, his RPM has literally dropped to a quarter of what it was at the start of the season. Guy turned into a pumpkin.

Gwen Goldman exchanged fist bumps with the New York Yankees, whom she had been admiring for decades from afar, walked onto the field and waved to the crowd.
She got to be a Yankees' bat girl on Monday night at age 70 -- a full 60 years after she was turned down because of her gender.
Shaking with excitement, she beamed while recounting how it felt to be at Yankee Stadium on this day for the game against the Los Angeles Angels.

Police are investigating an allegation of assault against Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer and an attorney for the accuser says the woman has obtained a protection order.
Major League Baseball also is looking into the allegation.
“The Dodgers were made aware of the allegations against Trevor Bauer late this afternoon and immediately contacted MLB, which will be handling this matter," the team said in a statement during its game Tuesday night against San Francisco.
Jon Fetterolf, Bauer's co-agent, disputed the allegations that Bauer committed any nonconsensual violence. He said Bauer met the woman in April, and the two had “a brief and wholly consensual sexual relationship initiated” by the woman.
Fetterolf said the woman asked Bauer repeatedly for “rough” sexual encounters, demanding to be “choked out” and slapped in the face.
Fetterolf claimed Bauer and the woman remained friendly in text messages after their encounters. The attorney said Bauer became concerned and confused after the woman told him she had sought medical care for a concussion days after their second and final encounter.
A whole lot of stuff in that Trevor Bauer story, none of which I needed to hear about. If he committed a crime, I hope there is justice. I'm also not sure details of these things being made public is actually good for anyone.

Personally I think it’s very smart of him to get ahead of it. Now that the details are out there and he’s explicitly said he has evidence it was agreed upon, it saves his skin from the pitchforks coming and he can focus on his profession. If he gave the standard line there would be a push for suspending him until it’s investigated. He seems confident he didn’t do anything especially early on so I’m curious to see where this goes.

Glad he got ahead of it. What a pathetic thing to even say.

This is the first I’m reading of those details. But frankly a person has the right to defend themselves about any accusation. Certainly the posted info you sent sounds serious, but what I was referring to was Bauer posting yesterday through his rep that he has texts she asked for certain things. It’s clear it’s not black and white. What you posted is new info. I’m not sure what you’re being condescending about.

These details are consistent with the original allegation. Perhaps some people only read Bauer's defense.
Of course he can defend himself but speaking for myself, my first reaction to hearing something like this is not to congratulate Bauer on how "smart" he is for getting ahead of it.

It was hardly a congrats. It was more of a, he has every right to speak up for himself if he has evidence to the contrary. There's nothing more to it. I don't like Bauer the person, but if he has evidence, why should he stay completely silent while his rep takes a beating? I'm not playing the holier than thou card.
The plan still is for Bauer to start on the weekend...what an awful decision. The Dodger claim it's "out of their hands" because they can't discipline Bauer formally under the domestic violence policy (which is another issue entirely), but they can just not give him the ball for the start. It's embarrassing how wins matter more than anything in these leagues.
