They had to do that though. Their fans would have burned Sunderland at the steak if they lost Reilly and exited today without enough quality signings to hang their hat on.
Even with today's signings, they are still worse than last year with Reilly's departure, and unless Mitchell signs with the Argos, there will be at least three west teams projected to be better than the Eskimos going into next season.

That means that he's likely going to give Huff a chance to compete before he signs anything elsewhere, and that's what's taking the time. It comes down to if Huff is going to hit the bid or not. He'll have to consider whether or not he can find another QB to compete in the West. His history is to not play ball in bidding wars, however I feel this year is different given the amount of free agents changing cities and with two upstart football leagues potentially cornering talent that in other years he could bring in at the league minimum.
My bet is this drags on to the maximum level of discomfort for fans, but ultimately he resigns here.

I wish I could share your optimism.
The one tweet that really got my attention was yesterday from Boomer,
My perception is that he and Bo are pretty tight and it felt like Boom was just readying fans for the bad news...softening things up if you will.
Or again...paranoia will destroy ya time.

K...now they need some help protecting Bo and certainly along the D line especially if Micah and Ja'Gared are both gonzo.

I saw that tweet too. That was more talking about the prospect of Mitchell signing before free agency, Huff's best offer wasn't going to come before today and if it was, it wasn't $700k +/year and that's untenable for Mitchell. He's got a second kid on the way, and needs to lock down his economic interests with this contract.
If Huff can table a competitive offer with the Riders and Argos, I think he signs here no problem (Better tax situation and honestly it would be a major heal move for him to sign elsewhere for similar money). It just comes down to whether or not Huff is going to spend $700+/year for a QB. That might just be a philosophical bridge too far him, but given what's played out today in free agency, I can't see the Stamps even hosting a playoff game in the next 2-3 years if they don't get this signing (Unless they get Jennings and magically the Stampeder way grows him a work ethic).

Like he was going to sign anywhere else in the CFL.
The guy likes winning, and he knows it's not only because of him that the Stamps are the class of the CFL year after year since 2008.
