I think I'm going to shut it down for the year. Going to really try to hit it hard in the New Year, so I'm going to give my legs a rest.
I may change my mind next week, but this week is out. Going to eat lots, drink beer, watch hockey and hang out with my family.

Hopefully your "shutting it down for the year" goes better than mine did!

Congrats on the 6k hab, enjoy yourself. I hit 5k last night with the help of 150km Zwift.
What's everyone's goal for next year? Thinking I have a shot at 7k, so might shoot for that.

I'm going to come up short on 5k, so I'd like to that hit that for sure in 2018. Would be sweet if I could get it to 6k.

I'm not a mileage tracker but my goal is to ride in every day, unless some unusual commitment prevents it.

I'm pondering a huge jump to 10,000. I don't know if I can make the commitment, though. I've got a lazy streak in me that I have to overcome. Only 50km more a week and I can do it.
I looked at my stats and I hit 6000 with almost zero weekend riding. Just have to be disciplined. I'm going to really take a shot at improving what I eat as well.

I know, but tomorrow is probably my last commutes of the season. Then it's holiday time for me until the New Year. I'm hoping to at least get over 4800km.
Strava (at least the free version) won't show me, but I'm guessing about 90% of my rides were commutes this year. If I can find time on weekends to throw in some longer rides I should have a 5k goal done no problem in 2018 (and also do more extended commute rides to add on km's).

Those add up so quickly, too. I have to get a little smaller so I don't stress my knees too much for the longer ones. Really hurt myself trying to keep up with Ktrain this year.

It's only 6km each way, but I've gotta go north straight up the bluff, so that's gotta count for something! Some days I like to come home the long way up Nose Hill Creek, which makes it about 13km. And I do road and mountain bike rides all summer so it's tough to guess what I do total.

My yearly best on a bike was 3,855 kms in 2016, but I didn't ride after July due to my MCL tear. I was averaging 825 kms per month from April-June. I'll be at around 1,400 kms this year, after only getting back on the bike in June. Now that I'm healthy again, I've gone from 175 pounds to just under 160 pounds in the last five months. My commute won't be as long anymore (only 2.5 kms starting in 2018), but I am focused on being more athletic. Some of this will be on the bike, while some will continue to be at Orangetheory Fitness.
In 2018 I intend to ride at least 6,000 kms on my bikes. I don't think I can keep up my pace from April-June 2016 all year, as I will be dedicating more time to non cycling fitness activities. I do intend to ride in multiple granfondos. I'm aiming for to complete Penticton (July 8) and Whistler. (September 8). I'm also looking into Victoria (August 19). I really want to do the Silicon Valley one on June 23rd. That would give me one per month for four straight months. Fort Langley on July 22nd might be doable if I don't do Silicon Valley.

825 km a month is quite a bit!
Any gran fondos in Alberta? I was thinking of attempting Badlands and Highwood pass.

I did Badlands a couple years ago. It's fun but if there's wind you're in for a tough day. I want to try Highwood as well. I'll sign up if you do.
I'm currently at 9882km on the year. I was hoping to get to cross 10k outside but I'm working from home now and the weather didn't cooperate so I'll likely pass it on the trainer.
I'm going to try for 10k again next year. This year my goal in January was 5000 so I'm pretty happy to be able to double it. The bike has been life changing.
I'm spending Christmas in Arizona this year and bought a bike for the house we share down there. I might attempt the Rapha Festive 500 this year if the bike is good enough. 500km between Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. Except I get the bike on the 26th so it'll be a tight squeeze to do it in 6 days.

Not bad out there this morning, about a cm of snow that can cover up packed stuff or ice underneath. The side streets are already getting soft and snirty, they are going to be impassable messes by the end of the day and onwards until we get some melting.
I'll hit just over 4800km on my ride home today, and that may be it for riding in 2017.

I think the side streets will improve with all this cold. That snow will pack down to a nice solid base with a bit more traffic.

I had quite a bit of trouble after the Sun building. The path through Vista Heights is not plowed so I elected to take 27 Ave which was not the best idea.
Passed the plow at the bridge by the Sun so hopefully they will be getting to some of these other pathways.
I have to work a couple days next week, if I come into the office I may cycle in, we will see.
