Which goes back to what I said a few pages back.
This show is trolling us.

The poster stole the plot. We have no idea what is actually happening.

Do the writers?
90% of the screen time is spent on hamfisted nostalgia triggers, one liners, or space shots. Honestly it's not awful but it's pretty cheap. The 10% "plot" is disjointed and confusing. No motivations are clear at all, just flimsy excuses to force nostalgia points to come crashing together.

Fair enough.
This show, is completely losing it.
- "Beers in the holodeck?"
"We have no POWER!!"
- "No, seriously, beers in the holodeck?"
"We have no TIME!"
- "Dude...seriously, beers in the Holodeck. Its got lots of power for holodrinks and we'll chat about days gone by and the good ol' times while our unsupervised ADULT children ransack the ship like drunken toddlers. Dont worry about the time, the power, the impending destruction or the preposterous and mysterious villain. It'll be fine."
And nobody has an issue that these kids have the run of the place because they've done nothing of any significance but just because their dads are famous?

No it's trolling us with love. I keep tuning in because I'm like "what are they going to show next to trigger my childhood Trek encyclopedic knowledge?"
I'm loving accessing all these memories again. I could care less about logic at this point. I honestly teared up when the themes to DS9 and Voyager played and the 1701-A showed up with Jack telling us how it's his favorite ship as the audience surrogate.
At this point if Dr. Pulaski shows up as the big baddie to have one final spar with Data, I'd even accept that.
Showing the U.S.S. Jackson as an original 1960s Constitution class instead of the janky SNW one (great interiors, failed execution on the exterior) was fantastic.

Seems like some of you guys should probably just stop watching at this point, as you're clearly not having a good time.

This is Star Trek.
Not enjoying it is part of the enjoyment of it!
Its like being a Flames fan. Without the suffering you dont really get to savour all of the flavours.

Not to mention....
"You see that one's the Defiant! Thats the New Jersey! Thats the Enterprise!"
Okay...so we've established that Jack can read. He is, at least marginally, literate.

Why is the concept of Moriarty as the security AI so upsetting to some people? It makes sense if you actually watched any TNG.

I recently rewatched TNG without the eyes of a 4 year old and a lot of episodes make just about as much sense as this.
The part that doesn't make sense is using a dissociative identity Soong-golem the computer system of Daystrom. It makes perfectly logical sense that a psychotic Data would manifest random s*** like crows and Moriarty like his TNG dream sequences. He should have fed Riker a cellular peptide cake of Troi to complete it.

Horrifying, random flashback of the show Andromeda last night. Definitely brought on by the villain spaceship design.
My god that was bad TV. I must have successfully repressed those memories for a good 20 years, and I don't know if I can put them back in the bottle now.
On the bright side, Picard just got about 8200% better when measured against Andromeda.

I liked it, the James T. Kirk remains seems a little too on the nose to just be an Easter egg though, right?
