LOL Luongo in the hall of fame? for what? diving and being funny on twitter.

Can't ever come back from these low standards.

Is he a lock?

Vernon and Barrasso both accomplished more in their careers and don't appear to ever get considered.

Off topic but was talking about this with friends earlier, does Cale Makar already have a HOF resume? if he never played another game would he still get in? I tend to think there's a longevity component to making the Hall but others seemed to feel he has already hit the major awards and that he would make it. Curious what others on here think.

4th all time in wins. Over 1000 NHL games played... top 10 all time for Sv %.

Not sure why he wouldnt go to the hall

interesting thought exercise- I think my reflex reaction is obviously he does not...but at what point does someone have a HOF career that is an interesting question- if he somehow just became Dion Phaneuf for the rest of his career (sorry Dion) or whatever- how long would he have to 'compile' to become a HOFer

best I can tell from the non goalie, modern, non- came over after a distinguished career in Europe guys, the shortest minimum career for a HOFer seems to be around 700 games- Orr, Bure, Forsberg, Lindros etc

Plus, he's a three-time Vezina runner-up (arguably should have won in 2010-11), has six seasons where he finished 5th or better in AS voting, and backstopped the 2009-10 Olympic team to gold.

Luongo is easily the most deserving HHOF candidate among this year's four player picks.

How the hell is Mogilny still not in? Especially when someone like Alfie made it.

For essentially the same reason Curtis Joseph is not in: no Cups. CuJo is 7th all-time in wins, 6th all-time in games played; they have remarkably similar résumés, although Luongo's is admittedly a smidge better.

That CuJo hadn't "won anything" is the black mark against his induction, and letting Luongo in also calls into question why several guys who did win Cups and trophies were excluded, e.g. two-time Cup, Vezina and Calder Trophy winner Tom Barrasso, or two-time Cup and Conn Smythe Trophy winner Mike Vernon.

I'm of the opinion they should all be in the Hall, but there are a lot of people who believe that induction requirements should be much higher and the number of inductees much lower. Getting in as a goalie is notoriously difficult to begin with; in the last 30 years the only inductees have been Billy Smith, Grant Fuhr, Patrick Roy, Ed Belfour, Dominik Hasek, Rogie Vachon (34 years after he retired!), Martin Brodeur and now, Luongo. (And Kim St-Pierre...)

Luongo deserves it but I don't think the Sedin's belong in the hall.

For fun they should have only voted in Daniel and left out Henrik. He always was the lesser twin.

I have no issues with the picks. Rivalries aside, I think the Sedins deserve to go in, as does Luongo. Alfredsson was a heck of a player in his prime too.

not that it was ever going to happen, but it would have been hilarious if one of the twins had to wait for a year while the other one goes in.

Maybe Sedins could go in a weaker year, but IMO Elias, Zetterberg, Brind'Amour, and Mogilny are all eligible and more deserving! Alfie deserved to go.

The problem is that there are other goalies not in the Hall who should probably be there ahead of him. Over 1000 games played is impressive, but that's really the only thing that separates him from a lot of guys who aren't in.

He's 4th all-time in wins, but second in starts. His career winning percentage isn't even over 50%, and that's with playing most of his career in the shootout era. He's basically Cujo with 100 extra games played.

I've said it before, if goalies were held to the same standard as skaters, Luongo would definitely deserve to be there, but Vernon, Barasson, Osgood, and Cujo (to name a few) would also already be in there.

I think the Sedin's only get in 1st ballot because of the 2010 / 2011 seasons where they each won an Art Ross and Henrik won the Hart in 2010.

Their career PPG is probably below average for a Hall of Famer, and really low for a 1st ballot hall of famer.

But they had a peak where they were legitimately top 5 players in the NHL, so that probably gives them a bit of a lift.

Still a bit surprising though because from a career perspective I don't see them head and shoulders above guys like Elias, Mogilny (might be the biggest snub at this point), Brind Amour etc.

Really both Mogilny (1032 points in 990 games), and Brind Amour (1184 points, 0.80 PPG same as Sedins, two Selkes and better all around player) probably deserve to go in first.

A shame Herb Carnegie wasn't accorded the honour in his lifetime.

Contemporaries such as Jean Beliveau considered him one of the greatest to ever lace up the skates.

His post-playing career was every bit as monumental.
