In the Foot Soldiers Facebook group, someone noticed that the club has increased prices for this one (except for season ticket holders). That won't help. Perplexing, to be honest.

Hockey playoff distraction, weeknight, etc. are all factors, but this is the type of game that should be the same price or even less. Get people out for a unique opponent and maybe they'll become more invested fans. At minimum, they'll buy some parking, beer, and sausages.

I'll be there regardless (and taking two first-timers no less), but I do think that they could've used this as a vehicle to sell other stuff, tomorrow and beyond.

The oddsmakers have Halifax and Forge as pretty heavy underdogs in their MLS matchups. Cavalry still underdogs, but not by as much.

Interestingly, York are considered to be more of an underdog vs. Pacific than Cavalry are vs. Whitecaps.

I really love the idea of cups in soccer. The opportunity to play against, and maybe even defeat, teams in different leagues is exciting to me.

IMO there are a bunch of reasons why people don't want to go. NHL playoffs is part of it, but also the Whitecaps coming to Spruce Meadows isn't a novelty anymore, and weeknight games are simply more difficult for people to get to compared to weekend games.

Honestly, I'm on the fence as well, I'm not buzzing for this game like I was for 2019....

And yes, the club increased ticket prices for this game by $5 a seat for non-season ticket holders. I don't think the ticket price is the big reason why people are staying away though.

IIRC the last matchup vs the Whitecaps was the middle of summer…wouldn’t be a school night for kids, weather would be nicer…and the cavs would have had quite a bit more fan momentum being at the top of the table for the spring season…with playoffs going on, it’s probably a lot like me with Baseball/CFL…don’t really pay attention until there is nothing else going on.

Man. This is a very disappointing week for Calgary sports teams.

Disappointing night but a highlight was seeing Sam Adekugbe (who was sitting right in front of us) be swamped by little kids looking for selfies and autographs, and him taking the time to happily oblige. Class act.
