Madison Bumgarner, who started quite a debate Sunday when he held Atlanta without a hit in the second game of a doubleheader.
Bumgarner, who is with Arizona now, only had to pitch seven innings because of baseball's recent switch to shorter games in doubleheaders. That means his 7-0 victory won't go into the official list of no-hitters, which requires a game of nine or more innings.
Funny early season things happening in the baseball standings at the moment.
Right now there are 4 teams leading their division with a negative run differential. In fact in the NL East is the weirdest, there is only one team that has a positive run differential and that's Miami. and they are in last place in that division.
Things will sort into their natural alignments in a couple months but there are definitely some paper tigers in the league right now. The Royals at 16-10 and the Mariners at 16-13. I envision both those teams at or near the bottom of their respective divisions by the end of the season.
This is just brutal. They call McCutcheon out for running off the basepath, even though he doesn't. Then they call the runner at first safe even though he's out. Then they don't eject Girardi even though he clearly is looking to get ejected, and instead eject Harper from the dugout. What an absolute clown show.

I feel like the Royals have a sneaky good team. If things break right for them I can see playoffs for them. They likely won't remain in first though.
John Means is pitching a perfect game no hitter for the Orioles through 6 in Seattle. I hope I didn't jinx him. It's the free game of the day on mlb.com.
EDIT: now through 7.
Edit 2: No longer a perfect game as a runner reached earlier in the game on a wild pitch 3rd strike, so now it's officially a no-hitter.

Reason: Update
It's still early but Francisco Lindor's slash line is atrocious. .157 .276 .202 .478. Part of me is hoping this keeps up because it would be the most Mets thing ever. But really I hope he figures it out sooner than later because he is a heck of a ball player.

He was never a great offensive player just a good one with an outstanding season or two. It’s not like it was any surprise to see that any decline in his bat made him not worth that contract.
Pretty much the poster child for bad over 30 contracts. It seemed bad at the time and probably ended up being worse than expected. Still kinda shocking he ends up getting DFA'd, even though he deserves to be based on his current play and age.
