I am reminded of the deadline where Kesler almost moved, Gaborik moved, we were shopping Cammalleri, etc.
Kesler held up the trade market. Gaborik moved for not that much. Teams weren't even offering a 2nd for Cammalleri. I'd say the deals before definitely set a lowball price for Cammalleri, a price Burke (IIRC) refused to sell him for. It was a strange trade deadline that year.
I think you could point to other trade deadlines and the multiple defenders that moved and say that the first move may definitely have affected the price of the subsequent moves.
None of us would never really know since we're not talking to the other GM's and seeing how the market changes as the deadline approaches. But given how GM's have talked about it certainly seems that deals made do affect offers made.

And he was certainly worth a 2nd too, somebody must've had some regrets, I remember Cammalleri was on fire to end the regular season.

LeBrun on Simmonds:
https://theathletic.com/760935/2019/...the-avalanche/
Would love to see TB get him to keep Tom Wilson honest
NSH, WIN are keeping eyes on Simmonds
CGY, VGK are fits in LeBrun's mind
BOS looking to add more their depth in top 9
TOR has been linked but Dubas says he isn't interested in rentals and their top priority is defense
The market for Ferland and Simmonds will be intertwined. Waddell will make sure to talk to any team interested in Simmonds about Ferland.

Saw on insider trading this morning there is a lot of interest in Schenn
Apparently on Friedman’s 31 thoughts podcast he links Simmonds to the Flames as well

I’m a big Ferland fan but with his inconsistency and concussion issues I can’t see him getting more than 3.5 or 4 but gms are a crazy bunch.

And his agent isn't wrong putting that ask out there, considering RFA Tom Wilson signed for 5.15M.
Ferland likely gets 4-5M on the open market this summer. Always a team willing to overpay for a 20 goal power forward (Brouwer, Lucic, Clarkson).

If chucky’s contract doesnt start with an “8”, then his agent has failed.
Unfortunately the Flamess will likely be unable to add much at the deadline or next year due to cap pressure

If it's a 6-year deal, it won't start with an 8. Only for an 8-year deal.

No. The core of this team is locked in for several years. It’s silly to think that this year is the Flames last chance to make a run. It’s their best chance in many years, but it is also the first of likely several years yet to come.

Three more years. Gio and Johnny are signed for three more years, and Giordano is a Norris quality defenseman who is 35 years old and Johnny is having a Hart worthy season.
The Flames should absolutely push for this season. Best season in 30 years, all of our key positions except for #1 D are young so that limits the amount of pressure we need from players drafted in the first few rounds over the next 1-3 years.
You go all in this year, hopefully for players that will be around for longer than 4 months. The Flames are at that “how do we get over the top” phase of things.

No, I don't think you do.
You don't trade first round picks, trade one of the young stud defenseman, or Jankowski/Bennett to load up and go all in.

I agree. Plus, Ferland is a UFA and Tkachuk is an RFA.

But whats going all in? Trading the 2019 first pick? No thanks.
I think the flames need to add an experienced depth forward like Eric Staal and an another experienced Defencemen like Kronwall and possibly a goalie.
