got a surface pro 3 and i cant believe i didnt get one sooner. amazing device, and the keyboard is great too. just a fantastic buy. not really a tablet or a laptop but a fun mix.
any really cheap 10" laptops out there? like sub $200
The Acer Chromebooks in that price range are going to be a far better experience than a Windows one. Assuming of course there aren't Windows apps you need. My son and I both have Chromebooks and I just got my gf one. I think they are great machines for what they do and there isn't a whole lot I do that I ever require a Windows com for.
Sorry to bump an old thread, but I didn't think it was appropriate to start a new one.
I was recently gifted a Galaxy S Tab 8.4, and because I like to take care of my things, I wanted to know about screen protectors.
Are they necessary for tablets? If they are recommended, which one should I get? I've been trying to look online, but I've found nothing but mixed reviews, both for and against screen protectors, and against certain brands.
Not exactly what you're asking for but I've got a Poetic case for my Nexus 7 and it works well and is convenient.
I have this case for my Nexus 7 and I love it. Gives you piece of mind when throwing it in a bag or your pocket. I use the folding cover to stand feature all the time too. It is light weight and doesn't add any bulk to the tablet. Great price too.

I'm looking really hard at the Nvidia Shield to replace my 1st gen Nexus 7.
It got fairly decent reviews on wirecutter.
Anyone here have one? Am also considering other Android tablets, ideally sub $350.
I have one, its awesome. Gamestream and the shield hub are great features. They have added a lot of games since I bought mine on release day. Definitely recommend. Plus, the controller can be used with the Nvidia console once its released.
My other option would be to wait till the Surface Pro 4 comes out, which is supposed to be in October, and maybe then some of the prices will drop to a more reasonable $700 for something with more RAM and a bigger harddrive.
I bought this a while ago for under $400. I just use it for browsing when I'm travelling though. It's reasonably fast (64GB SSD) and has great battery life. I've updated it to Windows 10. Newer versions are available now.
Depending on your price point, the non-Pro Surface 3 might might fit your needs. They start at $639, and for $769 you can get one w/ 4GB of RAM and a 128GB hard drive. You'll have to buy the keyboard on top of that, though

Yup, that Dell is nice. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for. Much better i3, 3M cache, faster processor overall and 4GB of RAM. You get what you pay for.
Personally I would wait until more manufacturers start coming out with Core M tablets. More powerful than the Atom but with the same low power requirements which means awesome battery life. If Lenovo hadn't turned evil with that whole bundled malware garbage I'd probably pick one of these up
