Marketing major are you? Thanks for all the free lessons, professor.

He didn't say it was ineffective he said it was stupid, which is right. Cradle of Creativity makes no god damn sense, and DaveArt might have talent but so did Dane Cook, his art was loud and obnoxious too.

You don't need to be a marketing major to realize that if its effective, it's not stupid when it comes to marketing. In fact it's pretty damn obvious that many things in marketing are intentionally made to be annoying because it helps you remember them.

Stupid and effective are not mutually exclusive.

That Jets one is nice, see? Relatively clean and simple, not too busy, you can actually see what the #### is going on.

I've been pretty vocal about how stupid the slogan "Cradle of Creativity" really is. It's not marketing, it just sounds stupid. I'm making fun of the slogan. I'm not going to go buy a ####ty mask from Dave.

Also, for somebody who claims they're the cradle of creativity (which as mentioned, doesn't really make sense but let's assume it means he thinks he's really creative), these World Cup masks are all remarkably similar.

Country logo. Intenze dezign. Homage to NHL team of said goalie. Done.

Not sure why everyone is ragging on DaveArt and not the players that are wanting these designs. He's done many simple, clean masks over the years.

Because he has a stupid slogan. I would have thought that point was kind of obvious by now.

In fairness though, I'm not sure how good of an idea it is to put two old men who squabble at intermission on tv on the side of your mask either. I wonder how the cradle would have drawn up Reimers mask?

This Dave guy is undeniably talented. This doesn't mean he has good taste. He doesn't. Luckily for him, neither does his target market, which is why he's so successful.

The pendulum will swing the other way eventually. Younger goalies will eschew these overwrought, unrestrained designs and opt for something cleaner and more minimal. If Dave is the marketing genius some apparently think that he is, he'll adapt and maybe drop the DAVEART XXFX Glitter and trade his heavy metal gradient font in for some Futura or something. I doubt it though. Even if he doesn't adapt, someone will be buying. Ed Hardy still exists, after all.

Just went to his website and the header says "Welcome to Enter the World of DaveArt". English isn't his first language, which maybe explains his no good tagline.

DaveArt paints beautiful masks that goalies want. Good for him. That's great.

DaveArt paints tacky, ugly, sides-of-van paintings on masks.

I miss the era when goalie masks had actual "design" to them rather than smashing as much random crap on them in every nook and cranny with no thought to the overall look. I'm personally a fan of solid colours and don't like effects or gradients. We're finally venturing out of the period of graphic design that was marked by showing what the software could do and heading back to design that relies on actual design and not on technology. I can't wait for the pendulum to swing back in goalie masks too.

With the exception of maybe the Jets one, I don't think those masks are simple and clean at all.

I also can't help but read those DaveArt trademark features in a monster truck announcers voice.

" Here is Carey price's new mask, featuring GGGGLLLLOOOWWWW TECH EFFFECTTTTS and XXXXXXFX GLITTEEERRRRRRRRRRR..."
