I will hestitate just a bit because I've only seen a trailer(and I/we have all been burned by promising trailers before)

You echo my thoughts about the director, I think he can pull off a movie like this. As for the religious aspect, dont think it will have any bearing on the enjoyment of the movie (besides increasing its gate)

Side note, I like the casting of Joel Edgerton (Rhamses)
